Plastic surgery strangeness
Hi guys,
So I'm all scheduled and approved for my July 27 surgery, but I just found out, I won't see my surgeon again until then. Does that seem odd? No pre-op, no day before drawing all over me - just show up in the OR. "Hey, remember me? Belt lipectomy and breast lift?" Seems so, impersonal. I mean, I guess it is.
I can schedule another consult for $150.00 (not covered by ins.) but what am I going to say? Hi, I just wanted to see you again? That might sound odd.
Is this the way it usually works??

Congrats on getting the surgery! That means you'll have it before our August 4 get together! when I had a breast reduction I only met the dr once and I think that was for comfort because we didn't do much except make sure I understood what would happen.

How to have fun in the OR...

Oh - I'll make sure they do! I'll bring my camera and hopefully can ask a nurse to take on this duty - hope he or she is up for it! Seems there are always a bunch of people in the OR just standing around. There were like, 5 extra people in the OR for my bypass - I had no idea why they were there. But it is a teaching hospital...
After my plastic surgeon's amazing boob/oragami trick, I'm anxious to see his artistic talent. I may wake up with a Mickey Mouse tattoo drawn on my newly skinny butt.
And Polly - I am not 100% sure I'll make it August 4th, though I'll try really hard. I'll still be bent over and puffy. Sounds like fun!!

No need to see him again. You just need to get your blood work done. They will call you if there are any problems. Remember no aspirin, ginco, excess vitamin E, motrin, aleve, advil etc. for a week prior and nothing to eat or drink from midnight the night before. Take any medicines with a sip of water He will draw on you that am and take pics.

I don't know...it still seems funny to have had so little contact with this guy who is going to cut 10 pounds of flesh off of me. I guess I'll get used to it.
4 weeks from today!!
I need to lose some weight!! But aunt flo arrived today - so there goes that for this week!

But that is just it - there isn't a pre-op appointment to sign the "you may die" papers or have blood drawn. I just show up the day of the surgery - as I understand it. Although I am awaiting my packet, so maybe there will be a blood work day. With my iron the way it is, I am a little nervous. Is 19 high enough for surgery?? And I just found out I am zinc deficient again darn it. Is that a problem?? Sorry to badger you, but I am concerned. As you know, if not July 27, then it isn't until NEXT summer. I may flap away by then!!

Gina...
When I had my breast reduction... the doc drew on me like 2 days before the surgery and sent me home with a pencil to keep the lines in place after I showered...
My husband was helping me the morning of the surgery and apparantly wrote some cute messages to the doc about leaving a handful please... few little doddle arts pictures...the doc said she busted out laughing when they put me to sleep and pulled down the sheet to start the surgery...
It was fun!
