Default Coffee?

I'm sitting here having my morning cup of coffee and wondering if my morning routine will be changed once I have surgery. I drink 2 cups of regular coffee in the morning and that's it for coffee. Will I be able to continue after surgery or will I have to switch to decaf or give it up completely?

Thanks,

Teri

immediately post op it's decaf.......about a month into it, I use regular coffee every day...I mix my protein powder and some homemade cocoa into it to make a mocha cappuccino drink.....keeps my bowels regular, stays off depression, and I get my protein in each morning. I'm not a breakfast eater. Everything is good in moderation!

My doc says absolutely no caffein ever, but never ever is a long long time. I am six months out and just finished my Starbucks. I am a Starbucks addict and resumed my addiction approximately a month or so ago. There are some things that my doc is such a stick in the mud about, so I just go with what I feel is right for me. Good luck!

My doc said decaf for the first 6 weeks, then it was back to the "hard stuff". Of course - everything in moderation. I actually use my triple venti SF Vanilla non-fat latte as a protein supplement. It has 21 grams of protein in it. Its definitely better than trying to choke down a protein supplement that makes me sick.

I stuck with decaf for the first 2-3 months after surgery, but now (at 6+ months out) I'm back to the regular stuff, about 3 cups spread throughout the day. It's the only caffeine I drink (am also addicted to iced tea, but I make my own and it's caffeine-free), and I haven't had any problems...

My taste has changed. I love the smell of coffee, but I don't care for the taste, even if I put in my beloved sf french vanilla creamer. Decaf tastes worse, especially the instant.

My wife and I stopped at a starbucks and I got a sf mocha frap that tasted soooo good. It took me over an hour to sip it down, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I'm hoping maybe in the next month I can try my morning coffee again - regular, with my creamer, and it will taste better.

If you try caffeine too soon after surgery, you may not like the effect. Don't forget everything hits your system quicker after surgery. Dunkin' accidentally gave me a regular iced instead of the decaf- 2 weeks out. It was SF, skim milk, so when my heart started racing and I felt crappy- I recognized it as a caffeine rush- and I've been decaffinated for years!

Now- here's the confession: I've started having my coffee part regular, part decaf!

I have drank a cup the past couple of days, that is how I am getting in my protein shake. Reg Coff, chocolate whey, SFCIB and some powdered milk, makes a wonderful drink.

Hasn't caused me any problems, actually never did before.
