Thank you all....
for your advice and sharing your experience with coffee. It's not something that would be difficult for me to give up and I never go to Starbuck's anyway.
What's weird is my taste is changing NOW, before surgery. My one major reason why I've gained so much weight is I'm a sugar addict. No, not chocolate....but nearly everything else. Now, I could care less and the craving seems to be quieter now.
Weird, huh?

I drink about eight cups a day...ever seen that little squirrel in "Over the Hedge?"
If you think that's bad...those little Starbucks expresso and creams from the store (splenda)...
Joe Muggs has a sugar-free mocha frapp...(Books a million)...very tasty.
Excuse me while I go run around the block...

Ooh! I'm gonna hafta make a trip to Books-a-Million. Of course, I'll be there for the release of Harry Potter book this Friday night, but I don't know if I can make it that long! I don't do the Starbucks mochas because they've got too much sugar. A sugar free mocha frapp? I think I may have just found heaven!

Okay, here is what I have done since about 8 weeks after surgery (before then I had no caffeine).....
I pour myself a mug of regular coffee, add sweetener, and then pour half of it out. Then I add some protein powder, either vanilla or chocolate. This gives me about four sips, good sips. And that's enough.
I missed my morning coffee. And this is what worked for me.

I start every day with coffee. My pouch needs to be woken up with liquids before it is ready for food. Sometimes its one coffee and one cocoa, sometimes its 2 coffee.
Never did this before surgery. You never know what cards you will be dealt with the surgery, but I would think positive that you will be able to continue your morning ritual.

I must be really...
outta the loop. I have no frigging idea what you guys are talking about when it comes to ordering that stuff. I think I have been in a SB like 2 times, once was for a meeting and the other I walked in with a friend.
I keep thinking of the movie "You've Got Mail" though as I kept reading this post hahaha

First coffee in over four months!!!
Hello Teri,
I am two months post-op and have my first cup of coffee today. I am taking college class, so for me coffee is a MUST. Had two exams today, so I was very sleepy. After my morning exam, I started to nap on the couch. So I call my friend, Jane, and "Ask for some coffee." I live in an apartment. Jane using instant coffee. I am put two tablespoon in a cup, filled the cup half way with hot warm and the other half with FF milk. Drank half the cup and was flying high on a caffine high. I was HIGHER than a kite!! Call Jane back. Jane told me she uses one teaspoon per 16 oz. Needless to said, Jane stated she uses two tablespoons a week, not in one cup.
So my HIGH hit at 4:30 pm and I took my two exam at 6:00pm. During the exam I am started to hit "rock bottom." Now at 10:20pm, I am back to beening very sleepy.
The moral of my story. Start the coffee slowly after post-op. Please note, My doctor, Dr. Marshall say one or two a day and the pre-op/post-op nurse, Sally says no caffine until one year out. Maybe I should listen to Sally!
Warm regards,
Cat_Lover

Mainly de-caf
I have found that I has so much darn energy without the 100 some pounds, I don't often need the caffeine. If I'm driving far or I had no sleep, or no time to workout, I'll go caffinated. But it does cause everything to move through your system very fast. Hits fast, you have to use the bathroom fast, etc.
If you can stay away, I would, but it isn't life or death. Just see what works for you when the time comes.
