Taste is changing
Hey Everyone!
Yep, things are starting to taste different to me. As I said in another thread, I'm off of coffee (love the smell, but just have no taste for it) - however, I did have a sf mocha frap from Starbucks and enjoyed the hell out of that.
Chocolate - I now get nauseous if I smell it.
This brings me to the protein shakes I'm drinking. I have one every day, it's the Isopure zero carb tropical punch. I started out fine, but now it's making me gag, and toss my cookies. Even the smell is making feel ill.
What do you folks use at this stage of the game?
Thanks!

Baron, so good to hear that you are doing well.....and the way our tastes are changing is unbelievable.....from the things we use to love, the the taste is "yuk" now....I use to love eggs, over easy, and they make me gag now.....I have grown to just love refried beans with cheese on top and salsa....Everytime I see one of your posts, it makes me happy to know that you are on the losing side now.....Be Blessed on your journey....Darlene

Yep, my taste is changing too.
I didn't used to like chocolate, but now I crave it. Everynight I am having some SF, FF pudding that I make with Unjury's unflavored protein powder. Yummm.
In fact, I have become a HUGE Unjury fan. I love, love, love their Vanilla Protein shake mix. I mix it in my magic bullet every morning with Light Vanilla Soy milk, half of a ripe banana and some ice. It tastes a lot like a banana cream pie to me.
Also, I have learned that no sugar added blueberry applesauce is a great way for me to take crushed up pills. I can't taste them that way and they go down a lot better than if I mix the pills with water.
Suddenly, I like fish. This is big news since I have NEVER cared for it. I even ate rare tuna the other day and thought it was wonderful.
My biggest problem these days is that I am getting bored with my food choices. What I want more than anything is a nice steak hot off the grill.

Have you tried the No sugar added Carnation instant breakfast? You can add dry milk to that too to add more protein to it.

Yes, I have it at least twice a week. How much dry milk do you put in it?

That's an idea Pat. The unjury unflavored protein powder is great in anything. Just take care when putting it in warm stuff. Too hot and it'll clump (as you found out).

Doing a little research, it appears Unjury is very popular. Can I get it locally, or do I have to order strictly through their website?

When the nurse told me that my tastes would change after the surgery, I SO did not believe her. hahaha But they have.. For instance, I used to love the flavored Aquafina non-carbonated waters, but now even one sip tastes like I'm drinking pure sugar. Other stuff, I can still tolerate, but it's just not as "yummy" as it used to be.
As far as protein supplements, I started out drinking Slim Fast low-carb, but after about a month straight of those I got to the point where they were icky...but now that I've found the IDS liquid protein vials, that's all I drink, one a day and I'm done.
I think it's just a matter of trial and error. Once you find something you can tolerate and might even enjoy, go with it.

I live less than 10 minutes from Reston, VA where it is made and still have to order online. At least their shipping is very reasonable and they offer good selections of sample packets.
