I had a hard time finding it too, so I order it from drugstore.com. In fact, I order a lotta stuff from that website. Shipping and handling are free with a $49.00 order. Check it out.

How about forgetting the protein shakes??
Are you able to eat cottage cheese, ricotta, string cheese, moist poached fish???
In the very beginning (week 3 and 4) I used to take one package of unjury and sprinkle it in my food over the course of 1-2 days to get a little extra protein. By week 4 I could eat foods/drink milk in coffee to get me 60-70 g protein/day. Power crunch protein bars, which are more like a wafer and cream bar like a kit kat, are very yummy at your stage. Chocolate peanutbutter is kick butt.
I really think (in my opinion) that getting back to eating is key as that is how you will retrain yourself to make good choices and get those good habits engrained for a solid foundation.
If you can't eat the protein, drink it, but if you can eat it, I say eat.

I totally agree!
Yes, I can eat the cheese and fish, along with yogurt, eggs (soft scrambled) and ff milk. I just didn't think I was getting enough protein since I'm only 3 weeks out, and the directives said to start/continue with protein shakes.
It's funny, as I got older I learned to enjoy cottage cheese. My dad would put pepper on it till it was black (no, I'm not trying that - yet!).

Are they going to get it for you??? I had to drive a 1/2 hr each way to get it to the only grocery store in the area that sold it. I bought my first CASE online. Google it and you can order it online and have it sent to your house. I only really liked the chocolate. lol

I didn't introduce veggies until 12 weeks. Then they were well cooked. String beans, Cauliflower mash (tastes like mashed potoato), broccoli etc.
Fruits I left off until about 9 months. I didn't want to slow down weight loss with carbs and was deathly afraid of dumping. Turns out I don't dump from them and have a few bites of pinapple, watermelon, a small nectarine, or cantelope once a day either as mid afternoon or after dinner snack.
I eat lots of low carb, high fiber wraps (called flat out wraps as well as south beach breakfast wraps) to get my fiber and some good carbs. I have one slice of whole wheat toast dry on Sat morning with an egg beater omlet. No other bread or pasta. That is my achilles heel!! Brown rice with dinner once or twice a week and half a small red potato once a week. I cook a great deal.
Vitamins
Bariatric multi from wlsvitamins.com 1/day
B12 sublingual from wlsvitamins.com 1/day
Mulit oil from GNC 1/day
Gentle iron from walmart 1/day
I pop a flinstone for the fun of it with my kids as well
I don't take calcium as I drink probably 2 cups of milk a day and eat 1 oz of cheese a day plus there is a bit in the flinstone.
My labs have all been good and I am very happy with the above products. I don't know if leaving the fruit off for so long was necessary, but I did it to make room for protein.
I think working out consistently has helped maintain a steady weight loss. I didn't lose tons at first, but I kept losing throughout the process.

Thank you all!
Thank you all for this great info on the variety of taste changes that people experience, as well as great protein suggestions for dealing with those changes. I've been adding suggestions to my list to try out post-surgery. Pat, thanks for the thread - you rock!
