Been gone and great MIL story
My oh my...I am gone for 12 days and the board has been quite active. I think it would take me a day to catch up on everyone. I have been reading through as much as I can. Know I wish everyone well, congrats on all the wow moments, and I hope all that had some odd symptoms are feeling better.
Now for the mother in law story. My MIL has always held my weight over my head. Mind you she is no skinny minny herself. She used to mail me plus size catalogs with notes attached saying "I am sure it is difficult to find items in your size so I thought this would be of interest to you". And she would start an obviously insulting comment with "I don't mean to be insensitive but...."
It would kill me.
Fast forward a year and a half and 164 pounds lighter.
Our trip was to take the kids and visit them up north. We were in TJMAX shopping and I picked up this great suit from the rack. She said, "Oh that is beautiful. Are you going to lose a few more pounds to try to fit into it?"
My reply..." oh no, I am now a size 4 and it will fit me now" I proceeded to take the jacket off the hangar, put it on and button it right infront of her. I was loving every minute of her jaw dropping on the floor.
I know I should use my weight loss for good and not evil....but this did feel so good!!!!!

Ssswwwwweeeeeeeet!
One for our side! Aren't MIL's PIAs? My son-in-law calls me his "mother-outlaw" which I think has a great significance, don't you agree?
So, did you buy the awesome, fitting suit (even if you never wear it a day)?

Oh yea!!
Education can feel evil - but the truth is not evil. You are a size 4 baby - and you are HOT!! MIL will have to adjust the reality - she needs the reality check. It will help her grow as person - and it is about damn time!!
Well - I missed you very much - definatley noticed your absence. I am mulling over a job offer - could be relocating.
Hope you are well. We should catch up - things change fast!

Welcome back Dyann! You have been missed.
I love your MIL story...it reminded me of different exchanges with my Mom but now that I'm smaller than her she is learning it is better to keep her mouth shut.

You did use your weight loss for good! You did it for every one of us who puts up with those types of comments and maybe taught her a little lesson.
You know...maybe she is intimidated by your professional success and/or the fact that her son chose you (leaving her behind), etc. Maybe those comments are some unconscious attempt to feel better about herself. Maybe she doesn't even realize that those comments are hurtful, because she is only thinking about her own feelings. Then again...maybe I'm all wet. Ha Ha!
(This has been a Dr. Phil moment)
