What is your weigh-in ritual?
There have been a lot of posts lately with people being frustrated about gaining weight/not losing fast enough/morning vs. evening weighing/etc. So I'm curious: when, how, and how often do you weigh in? And what, if any, weight patterns do you notice?
After surgery, I weighed in once (and ONLY once) a week, on Friday mornings, after I got up and had my morning pee ( ), and of course, NAKED. I get on and off the scale usually 3 or 4 times in a 5-minute period, just to see where the numbers average out... and with my evil scale, the first number is always the lowest by at least a pound or so. (I still take the average and not the "best" number.)
I notice that I lose more or less depending on where in the month I am in terms of my period-- for a couple of weeks I'll lose only a pound or so a week, then out of nowhere I'll have a 3- or 4-lb. loss one week.
Lately, I've been getting on the scale on other days during the week, even though I still only count Friday mornings as the "official" weight for the week... I notice on Monday mornings I am often down 3 or 4 lbs. from where I was on Friday, but I also tend to get very lax with fluid intake on the weekends, so that loss is usually attributed to not getting in enough water-- by Tuesday or Wednesday, most of those 3-4 lbs. is back on after I get back to drinking in 60+ ounces of fluids a day.
Now that I'm 6 months out, I'm not as crazy with the scale as I used to be... early on, if I had seen a "gain" number, I'd have been pretty devastated. Now I'm finally coming to terms with how my body changes from day to day, and it doesn't freak me out anymore. (Of course, I'm still only 6 months out and I'm still losing pretty steadily-- when things start to slow up more, I'm sure the frustration will return with a vengeance!)

Once a week like you. Occasionally I'll weight in during the week if I notice I'm not gettng enough fluids and usually it shows a loss of several pounds so i know to get more in.
These days I'm happy with no loos or even gain! it means I'm acutally eating!

I weigh in once a month on my surgiversary. I'm very firm about this - otherwise you kind of drive yourself nuts.
My ritual?
I wake up, use the bathroom, stress out over the scale for 5 minutes and then get on and off immediately. Whatever that number says ... that's it and I put it on my chart.
 )
Stress is instantly reduced ... until 5 minutes before my weigh in the NEXT month.

Once a week...every monday....any more than that is torture and totally useless. EVERYONE will gain and lose 2-5 lbs EVERY day....that's the natural ebb and flow of our daily cycle.
I averaged "only" 2 pounds a week net loss......I made it, so will you.

My ritual was only weekly when I was losing - b/c I was a freak about the scale once I bought one. Only on Mondays b/c that was the day I had surgery - I weighed before I jumped in the shower.
Now that I'm at goal, I weigh everyday - I know that sounds kinda backwards - but I actually tend to lose too much weight - and if I'm under 125 in the morning, I add higher calorie (but still healthy) food to my day. If I wait a week, I could lose 3 pounds and I start looking like the CryptKeeper if I'm under 125.

In the weight loss phase, I weighted every Monday but only documented it every 2 weeks. Now below goal, I weigh daily just to see where I am. I don't really change anything if it goes up and down 3 pounds or so as this is SO NORMAL to fluctuate.
Its WAY TO HARD to weigh in every day as its so emotional and really not often related to what you are doing.

I weigh myself every morning right before I shower. It's just habit and it goes up and down. However, I know my body and I don't ever stress if the scales says I went up a pound or two from the day before. I've also seen it go down a pound or two the very next day. It all depends on what I ate, how much water, time of the month, etc. I like to look at the big picture too, so once a month at Curves I have my weight and measurements charted. It looks so good on paper!

Well, I'm almost 9 months out now, and I have the same weigh in ritual that I've had since surgery. I weigh every day, first thing in the morning, after going pee and naked of course. I get on and off the scale until I get the same number at least 2 times. That's the number I take. My "official" weigh in day is Monday, the rest of the days is just to see what my daily/weekly/monthly fluctuations are. My "cycle" changes a bit every month, and I like to keep track so that if I gain on my "official" weigh in day, I know why. I feel more in control if I do it every day. I actually write down my weight daily in my calendar, so I can track it. When I went on vacation last week - that was the first time since surgery that I have not weighed in daily. I don't think there are many people out there with my crazy ritual, but I know of a few here that do the exact same thing. (Right Cindy?)

I weigh every morning, naked. I want to be sure to catch it quickly if I start to regain.
