Default Unusual pain, anyone else have this?

Hi,

The last 2 nights I've been having dull cramps in my abdomen about 2 or 3 inches up from my belly button but deeper. I have a scar there from my hand assisted roux-en-y. If I press down I can feel pain down under the scar but no lumps or anything. The pain comes and goes and hurts through to my lower back at times. Monday the pain got a little intense and my heating pad didn't help. It started again last night but was not as intense. I haven't eaten anything different and am not throwing up. As an added note, I still have my gall bladder.

I called my doc and the nurse says he's out of town this week but if the pain continues to go to the emergency room.

Has anyone else had these symptoms? I haven't had any pain like this since my surgery.

Concerned,
Melissa

Default Sounds like my gall bladder pain

Everyone who has gallstones presents a little differently. My mother-in-law just had a couple gallstones removed and for her, jaundice was one of the symptoms, along with pain and nausea. For me, it was just unrelenting pain, from about an hour after I ate the first time in the day until around midnight that night. The pain started in the front, just under the right side of my ribcage, and at its worst, would radiate to the back. Then I got a break for eight or ten hours, and back at it the next day. Any unrelenting pain should be seen by a doctor.

Maybe call your primary care doc and ask them? They would know if it was gall stones or something possibly surgery related and that way you wouldn't have to wait for your surgeon to get back from vacation to get seen.

I would be on the phone to my PCP, if my surgeon was unavailable. It could be several things, from gallbladder to a hernia. Better to get it checked out. If pains get unbearable I would head to the ER.

It's rare, but could also be a pulmonary embolism. They're bad stuff and it needs to be checked out. If it doesn't subside in the next day or two, definitely call any docs that are available.
