Sweetie.. Gotta help yourself on this one and I have a feeling you know that. The whole I just have a couple of this or that not matter what it is (sips od soda, jellybeans, chips, yadda yadda) is dangerous business. The first tng for me was to know my weakness and stay away from it. That's pretty much it. If for you it's soda. Just don't get that soda. Don't bring it to the house, go down that isle, in the store or the 7-11. Yeah it's the just say no thing. The other thing that may help is the comitment to anyone or anything else but yourself. In my case I am the worst at keeping commitments to myself. To others tho I will take it to the limits a rarely fail. For me I think what I told Kelly in the examination room. I told her I was committed and will drive this thing hard. I keep my word if I give it. The commitment you made to the east county group is right on track. So making group commitments is certainly helpful. Even if you have to do it every other day to reinforce it. Big hugs girl. Good luck.

Exclamation Weight Regain

Mike:

I second Kim's statement. I was told the exact same thing, "...100 percent of WLS patients who have failed have drank carbonated sodas." I just don't wanna go there. I've adapted and learned I can live without the unnecessary calories and the risk.

However, each person must decide for himself/herself.

Red face Big Loving Hugs For you Bridget!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bridget girlfriend!!!!!!! YOU ARE NOT FAILING!!!!!!!!!!!
I absolutely refuse to let you think that that's what you're doing!!!! NO!
You just happen to be picking up a habit that you "used" to have, that most of us used to have, you CAN and WILL kick it again!!! We're all here for you, and walking right beside you because we LOVE you, and "no way Jose" are we going to dessert you when you need us most!!!!
You CAN do this!!!!

The way Kelly told me about carbonation at my 6 month postop, "they don't know for sure that it enlarges the pouch, what they DO know for sure is that it DOES stretch the opening from the esophogus to the tube, which in turn causes the food to leave the pouch quicker, letting US get "hungry" sooner!! So, there ya go, if we get hungry sooner, we go looking for food, IF we haven't learned during our "honeymoon period" how to eat in a more healthy way. That's a layman's way of explaining what Kelly said to me....

Hope that helps....
