Question Taking Capsules

I have been reading posts, and many of you take vitamins in a gelcap form. I was told I could never again take capsules because they wont digest and would get stuck. It sure would be easier to take some things in gelcap form instead of pill or liquid.

Post Pills

I was told after 6 weeks that I should start taking prenatal vit, so that is what I have been taking, and I haven't had any problems at all. I also take some other pills, and I have no problems with anyof those either. I guess all you can do is try, and see what happens, because everyone is different.

I take the liquid vitamins from Costco. It is so cool to just drink and not have a big pill in my throat!!

I take tablets, softgels, chewables and liquid vitamins. I guess I figure one of those HAS to be working, right???

From what I gather, softgels and not as easily digested as capsules. Tracie, my vitamin smart friend, told me today that capsules are the easiest for us to digest. Isn't that right, Tracie?

This really makes no sense. I know I had my surgery at a different place than most of you, but I had the same RNY. I wonder why they told me that taking capsules was not to be done at all, ever?

This is just my understanding and 2¢ on the matter....
Softgels aren't to be taken because they contain the vitamins mixed in oil which slides right through us. I don't know about them getting stuck and whatnot, but if they don't dissolve well, I can see where it would be plausible. Capsules, on the other hand, are just gelatin. They do dissolve with warm temps...and if they contain the dry, powdered vitamins, they are perfect for us. If you were to feel it "stuck", just drink warm liquid. A caplet, or tablet, CAN, theoretically, get stuck because most don't dissolve quickly at all. Make sense?
