Becoming a germophobe
Hey!
Only 5 days from my surgery date and I am becoming a germophobe! My mother in law is visiting to help Mrs Squishy (very nice of her) but she has a cold. My son has a cold now too and I am terrified that I am going to catch it. If I do, I don't think they will let me have the surgery.
Would it be rude to seal myself in a room and refuse to come out until Wednesday?
Seriously though... I'm freaking out about this a little.

That's exactly what I would do. This close to our dates, I'll do whatever is necessary to stay away from sick people. Of course, I've been popping 1000 mg of C for months (per the docs. orders) so that's been a big help!
I'm sure you'll be fine! Keep a bottle of antibacterial handwash close by at all times - and don't forget the chapstick when you leave for the hospital!

I was going to suggest that too!
Start with the vitamin C. And I think it's a very good idea to disinfect everything, phone, remote, faucets etc. before you use them just as precaution. Put a roll of paper towels in the bathroom for drying hands. Good luck! Hope you stay healthy!

Oh yea - it can happen
If you get sick honey, you don't want to be under anesthesia. Your recovery could be terribly compromised!
I had a cold two weeks before surgery and was completely freaking out - but luckily, by surgery date, I was all better.
5 days though - not so good.
I would go get a surgical mask - honestly. They'll understand.

Thanks!
OK... Let the disinfecting begin! The house is going to get doused with lysol and I am still going to lock myself away too. I've been taking the multi-vitamins and Vitamin C for a while, so that should help a little. Do they sell Purell in 55 gallon drums?
Mom-in-law went home today. It was very nice of her to come and help. My son is being very careful to stay away from me. We affectionately call him "Bubble Boy" because he catches colds constantly.
Still freaking out a little...but I'm gonna make it!

You don't want to be sick. I am doing the same thing on my end as my TT is in a week. Wash my hands like crazy and staying away from anyone with colds.
Keep up on the vitamins and good foods and wash like crazy.

Oh, that's right... your TT was going to be on the same day as my bypass until it was moved up. Good luck with the tuck!
