Okay it has to do with the amount of small intestine they romove during the GBP procedure. Proximal is what Dr C and Dr P do... they cut less than 14 inches of intestine... isnt that right? And then distal is removing more than 14 inches...... I think thats right. Im sure I will be corrected if different or if I have it back wards!

"People will argue with you that getting what you want in life isn’t something you can learn, if you’re destined to be one of the worlds winners as opposed to one of its perpetual whiners, its because you have been born with the right talents and temperament and have a big dose of self-esteem, ambition, and good judgment." Proximal is less than 100-150 cm bypassed. We are bypassed 75 (about 2 1/2 feet). Distal is normally between 200-300cm bypassed. Some call between 150 and 200 "medial". Distals are normally done on people with BMIs greater than 50...but Callery and Potts do all the same 75. Supposedly there is a easier time making goal and keeping it off...but it is due to malabsorbtion. You open up a huge can of worms when you bypass more, IMO....HTH
