Default Back at home, all suggestions welcome

Hello everyone! I know that I have not made many comments along the way since I have happened upon this forum, but have gained a lot of useful info from all of you. I thought that you guys would like to know, I had my surgery on Monday and I am home and doing well. If you guys can offer any suggestions on foods or anything else, I welcome the info!! I am a bit afraid and have been overly cautious about the fluids. Thanks in advance...

Thumbs up welcome

Hi Moores Pumpkin?

I am so glad you decided to post. I am 4 weeks post op and know I personnally have found this forum to be a life saver. As far as food your doctor usually has a pre-determined outline as to what you should be eating at this new stage. Dr. Callery prescribed only clear liquids for the first ten days. Water, broth, sugar free drinks like crystal light, sugar free popsicles, etc. If all went well, his assistant would move us up to cream soups until our nutrition meetiing and then we could add mushy and crispy food. But you really need to go by your own doctors advice. As far as liquids I would have to say try to get them in. At the forum we have a saying for new post-ops. "SIP, WALK, REST...REPEAT" you need to keep moving and stay hydrated.

Good luck to you and keep posting.

Welcome to the other side...you loser!!!

Default Welcome to the other side!

It's great to have you as a part of the forum. Congratulations on your recent surgery.

The first week is the toughest, but you're almost out of that. Every surgeon is different with instructions and stuff. My first week, I mainly stuck to sugar free popsicles, jell-o, iced tea and water. I didn't do the broth much. My second week, I was able to graduate to cream soups. It was grand! Then you get to other foods like potted meats, refried beans, baked tortilla chips, and other things that were allowed by our surgeon.

It would probably be best to get a list of things you can eat from your surgeon as again, everyone is different.

Welcome to the other side and don't be shy about posting!

Default Welcome!

Welcome to the loosers bench! We're glad you're with us. Congratulations on your surgery!

What to eat? Do check with your surgeon. Like Irela said, they are all different as to what you can and can't eat. This web site has information on what we all got to eat at each stage. You could check it out, but again I caution you on checking with your doctor first.

Keep us posted on your progress! We're all in this together.
