Anyone been on a cruise post op??
I am leaving for a cruise on Sunday, and I am wondering if anyone went on a cruise post op? I am almost 8 weeks out, and am starting to know my tummy a little better. I got some Prilosec for emergencies. Anything else anyone can think of? I am going to take something for in case I get all plugged up (Fleets) too. I am trying to think of anything that might happen. Do you guys have any good ideas, or thoughts, or experiences?

Anyone had any problems flying?
Oh yeah! Also, has anyone had any particular problems with flying? Like pressure in the tummy, or air bubbles or anything I should think about as far as flying is concerned?

When flying, anytime, the concern is with blood clots. Get up frequently and walk, stand around to help avoid the risk.
Tell us where you're going. Then we can live vicariously through your adventure! So, where are we going? I hope some place with warm water!

I flew to AZ without any probs at 4 weeks post op. Just follow all the dietary guidelines and pay attention to your body. It's easy to forget that you just went through major surgery when you're having fun.

LOL Hi Kim! Yes we are flying from Orange County to Galveston, Texas and cruising down through the Carribean and into the Yucatan Pennisula, and lastly to Belize. Hopefully the weather will be balmy and warm but not too hot. Heat has always been a problem for me since I gained a lot of weight. I love temperate weather, but I hate really hot weather. I know I will feel a heck of a lot better now that I am down 43 lbs. But I am still 90lbs overweight, so it could be a lot better!
My goal weight is to get down to around 130-135. I havent been there in 20 years. Rigtht now my immediate goal is NOT to gain weight on the cruise!

Hi Bridgett~
I am leaving on Sunday, and will gone for 10 days. I wish it was for a month! But alas gotta get the kids back to school <sigh>. I will come back with all kinds of experiences good and bad I am sure. Hopefully not too bad. I am trusting my little tummy to behave itself and make me proud!

If Bridget can't make it, I'll go in her place. I've been wanting to travel to Belize for years now. My friend went there for her Honeymoon about four years ago and my sister and brother-in-law just got back from that same cruise. They all had a great time! It's got about 80 degree water! Just right for me.
I totally understand being overweight and traveling anywhere. Especially traveling someplace with humidity. Humidity usually goes along with warm water. I can't wait to get back down below the 20 degree lattitude with my weight loss!
I'm sure you'll do just fine with the food and most likely your loose weight! Imagine that!

Carol,
Have a wonderful time. I am sure you will feel much better now that you are 40 lbs lighter! I went to Hawaii last May, pre-op, and weighed 330 lbs. I had fun but when I go in July this year I know that being 150 lbs lighter is even going to be better! I wish you a joyous cruise!
