Default OT - My turn to travel

Ok, since I told everyone about my parents and their off the beaten path (ok, remember they got lost in a blizzard ) travels, I thought I would share mine as well. You know I think it's genetic!

A few weeks ago, I got an email from a friend of mine. She is rather 'close' to one of the guys in one of the bands I like. She said they were going to play in Buffalo, NY on April 11. I thought, well it is a long drive (4 hours from Pittsburgh) but if someone will go with me, I will go. Well needless to say it's a Wednesday night, no one would go. So I had decided I wasn't going.

Well my friend sends an email, they need help with the merchandise table, so of course, this gives me a 'reason' to go (like I needed one). So yesterday at 12:30, I left work, went home changed into jeans, walked the dogs, and drove to Buffalo, NY! I went to see the Alex Skolnick Trio. It was Great!! I'm so glad I did it! I got there and told them Francine sent me to help, they make me feel so welcome. We sat in the dressing room while they finished eating dinner, they kept trying to get me to eat some Pizza. I didn't feel like going into while they were eating so I just kept saying 'No thank you'. After dinner, Frank (who does their sound) and I went out and got the table ready with CD's and T-shirts and other stuff. The guys came out and played for about 90 minutes. Frank was video taping it, and he would put the machine on the tripod and come over and ask if I wanted a beer about every 10 minutes. I finally told him only if he was driving me back to Pittsburgh!

It was Nate's 30th birthday (the bass player) so the next to last song Alex had to make a big deal about it, it was nice, Nate got very embarrased. They also announced that they had brought in a "Special guest, just for Buffalo, the lovely Jennifer is here to make our shirts and CD's look even better", which at this point made me want to crawl under the table. But you know what I did?? I put my arms up in the air and waved to everyone!!

After the show the guys came up and stood around the table, singing stuff and talking to everyone. Then when everyone left, we sat around for about 30 minutes BSing and then packed everything up and I drove home.

It dawned on me on the way home, yes I have always been outgoing, and yes I have always been a little crazy. But 100 pounds ago I NEVER would have done something like that! man, I'm just a wild child now!

Jeanie, I have to tell you, I'm so proud of myself right now, I could bust! I don't even really notice that I only got about 2 hours sleep, of course I might before lunch, but oh well, it was worth it!!

If they get much more 'wild' I think my fathers head will explode! I don't see why he gets so upset, I mean let's face it, he was the one stuck in the blizzard for 3 days! Mom said he was "not to happy about your going, and thinks you should just stay home". I'm hoping he gets over it before I see him on Saturday, I don't think I will be able to wipe the smile off my face before then!

Ok, are you sitting down? This weekend my sister is in town, and Saturday night, I'm going to Morgantown (about an hour) to see the youngins' in the band ZO2 (maybe, if my mom doesn't freak) Next weekend I'm going to Kent, OH to see ZO2, in case I can't make it this weekend. The 17th is your surgery, and I'm not coming down before then, I don't need 'spring cleaned' and I saw on your other post you were doing that to everything around you! The weekend of May 5 I'm going to Winchester VA. So I would say the middle of May if you are up for it, I would be happy to come down! Tell you daughter I'm coming to help you embarrass her!
