The price of thin??
This week I was spending the last few days of my vacation down in beautiful San Diego with my sweet daughter. We were shoppong in the historic gaslamp, walking in the lush grounds of Balboa Park eating lunch on the terrace of The Prado and enjoying the archetecture and exhibits at the museums . Nothing could be better!! Out of nowhere, while veiwing the incredible photos of Annie Lebovitz at the Museum of Art, I begin to feel light headed, I go sit down for a few minutes, I get up to find the ladies room, but do not make it. I tumble gently to the ground and proceed to stir a lot of attention. I am disoriented, slurring words and feel like I want to sleep. My daughter is calming me and letting me know help is own the way. Crowds of lovely people are trying to help me, the museum manager is holding my hand, I hear them asking me questions, do you know the date? how old are you? do you know where you are? I answer all correclty except I think it is 1985?? wait...I correct myself...it is 2007.
Moments later, the paramedics come, asking similar questions, taking blood preasure, and sticking moniters on me. As I am going in and out of consiousness, I realize some one has elevated my legs, there are about 6 paramedics at my aid, and all I can think of is if my panties are showing....ahhh who cares...!!!
Next thing I know I am taking a ride in an ambulance and as I get fresh air, bopth from the out doors as well as the plastic tubes up my nose I am feeling better.
BY the time I get to the hospital, I am feeling way better, but must under go a series of tests ans 3 hours later get discharged, with a ..."not sure what happened" diagnosis!!!
I can't help but to ask myself..."is this the price of thin??"
All they could come up with is that I have slightly low blood preasure, a slight irregular heart beat, slightly low iron 9.1, but not critical and that my corposals are extremely tiny. All together each slight problem each related to oxygen could of maybe caused this episode.
I see my PCP tommorrow.
So, I shre this with my grroup for 2 reasons...1. you guys are my biggest support...and 2. has this ever happened to anyone else???

Wow! It does sound scary! So glad to hear things are okay now. Sounds like adding up all those minor things is what caused it. Let us know what the doc says after your visit. I'm curious to know.
And remember...If you weren't paying the "price" of thin, you'd be paying a bigger and deadlier price for obesity.

I wonder if there may have been a gas leak or something? Were there other people around you at that time?
What did you have for lunch? Anything out of the ordinary? Did you eat or drink anything out of what you would normally have, earlier that day? I'm wondering if it could have been an allergic reaction?
Has this happened to you before? When? If so, are there any similarities you can think of?

I often feel light headed when standing up and sometimes have to stand in place for a couple of seconds for my head to stop spinning. Luckily I've never passed out. When I asked my doctor about it she said that it was probably a lack of water and perhaps low blood pressure.
I hope you are feeling better now. How scary for you!

Rain hope you are able to find out some answers concerning this episode. Just glad you are okay and hope you continue to feel better.
Like was said before there may be a price to being thin but an even bigger price would be paid with obesity.
Take care of you!!!!!

Sounds similar to a dump that I might have. I have low blood sugar, low blood pressure and if I don't keep on top of it, get many of those symptoms. Dehydration? Too hot?
Very frustrating not getting any answers at the hospital. Hope your pcp can figure things out so that this doesn't happen again. take care.
