Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm glad they go go go, I can't see them ever standing still for long, but really... a trip through the rockies in the spring???

The going 'thing' in our family is my brother and sister and I calling each other saying "Do you know where are parents are this week?" My dad retired on a Dec. 31 (it's been a while ago, he got offered early retirement) we didn't see them until March! They would come home, do laudry and go again.

Default The old saying...

Well, we all know the old saying: "It is isn't one thing, it's your mother."

Now we need a saying for fathers.

Parents can get a little scarey sometimes. My father in law used to drive to our house to visit. It's about a 4.5 hour drive but it took him about 7 hours to get here. When he left, he had not arrived back at his home 12 hours later! We called the State Patrol to look for him and everything.

He came home about an hour later and when he wife asked him where he had been, he said he just drove straight home. Pretty scary! We're still not sure what he did in the extra 8.5 hours. It appears that he just drove REALLY slowly.

We don't let him drive here anymore, but he always says he is going to come and I'm afraid that some day he will try it again.

Default Update on stubborn folks!

Ok, Mom called, so I could get the full story (sometimes Dad's skip things)

They were on Route 90 yesterday, someone told them it was close up ahead, so Dad (and I hope you are all sitting down) decided to get off the main road and take a side road!! Now Mom said it was a state road, but still if the close the main interstate, what would make you think a side road is any better?? So they got stuck going though some 'pass' and spent last night there. Then this morning a convoy of a state trooper, snow plow, and rescue truck came along with some other cars and dug them out, and took them to a little town called Ucross. They stayed there for a few hours and the state trooper gave Dad directions and told him they could go down the road to a town called Buffalo. There they could wait out the storm. So Dad lead (because he had a truck and could help if someone got into trouble) and the trooper made sure they had gas, and off went the little convoy. Now they are safe in a little town, Mom said they every have a McDonalds. There are no hotel rooms left in town, but one of the restrauants is staying open and letting all the 'stranded' people clean up in their restroom.

So, Mom's now all excited because she can cross "surviving a Rockie Mountain blizzard and being recued by a real rescue truck" off her list of things to do before she dies.

I told my brother he needs to have a long talk with them when they get home!

Default Hero's

You know the worst part Leesa??? All this for a chicken show!! A chicken show I say. They raise chickens by a standard, just like dogs, then all gather together and put them in pens and look at them. It's a CHICKEN!! I told Mom the next time he wanted to see chickens, take him to the grocery store.

You are right though, as much as I hate to admit it sometimes, they truly are my hero's as well. They taught us to work hard, play hard, and love hard. They have always been there for us, and even growing up 'fat' they never told us we were fat, and even had us believe we could do anything no matter our size! They have been there when I was so sick I had to spend 3 weeks flat on their living room floor becuase my back was out and I got the flu at the same time. They have been there for my sister through a kidney/pancrease transplant and then her WLS. They were there for me through my WLS. Now I guess we just have to be there for them through their 'teenage' phase
