Default sushi and starbucks

Sushi and Starbucks are 2 things that I just didn't do before GBS. It's weird, but now, I LOVE sushi - I didn't try it until I was about 10 months out, and I can only eat 2 medium sized rolls - or 3 small rolls . . . but I LOVE it!! It's the only white rice I can eat, but I'm shocked by how much I want sushi. I can say that I have eaten sushi everyday for the last couple of weeks. And Starbucks non fat lattes!! That is my sweet treat - at least it has protein!

Does anyone else have any foods that you didn't eat pre-op that you now LOVE?

Horseradish on red meat and tomatoes.

Tomatoes used to make me gag and throw up as a kid, now I love them with parsley, balsalmic vinegar and mozzerella cheese. I eat it like a sald and cube the cheese.

The horseradish thing is weird, I never had it preop and one day was craving it at a steakhouse, red meat isnt the same for me without out.

The rice doesnt bother you too much? I craved sushi one day out of the blue and bought a pack. I've never had sushi. It didnt go well I think if it was fresh rather than frozen it would have been better.

As for food I like now that I didnt like before surgery....yogurt has to be one. I never touched the stuff prior to GBS and now I have one every other day. Also..Fish! I eat fish 3 or 4 times a week now.

Kevin - I couldn't eat rice until I was 10 months out - before that, I tried a couple of times and it made me feel like a scared puffer fish. The first 6 or 7 months, I could do any complex carbs. I still can't do bread without feeling horrible. But now . . . come on baby . . . sushi for me! I had it at lunch - fresh is the way to go!!! I eat 3 pieces of a spicy crab roll and that was it!!

I loved sushi before, but do a sashimi appetizer or ask for a riceless roll now. I loved all the fattening things in there too...creamcheese, avocado, fried tempura, eel. I would rather eat some edamame, sashimi and a little side of brown rice.

I never loved fruit or veggies pre op...now I love them.
