Hang in there~One more bullet in your gun sweetie. The mask, fitted properly ,will take a few nights or a week to get used to but you need good sleep and if your not getting it, you need intervention.

Your time is coming~

I have sleep apnea and have used a cpap for nearly 5 years now. Before my surgery I loved my machine because I knew it was going to help me sleep safely--it was a comforting thing like a blankie. Unfortunately since the surgery I have been having problems with mouth breathing and getting a sore throat. I'm going to have to call my pulmonary sleep clinic to find out what's going on. Just like Van said, it's another point in your favor of getting approved for wls. Good luck!

hunnyblonde

I used to get a lot of sore throats. My doctor told me to take 1000mg of Vitamin C each morning. Since then (3 years) no more sore throats.

I have been using a CPAP machine now for five years now. I know the machine makes noise and getting the correct fit can be a pain but when you get that all figured out you will love how much more rested you are and many health issues will be positively impacted. I love my CPAP and I would not be here if it were not for this machine.I had over 700 interruptions during my first teat and my O2 level dropped to 48 t0 53%. I was having really bad headaches every morning. I got a heated humidifier and a full face mask because I was a mouth breather. Embrace the unit it will help you if you let it,

Default I love my machine!

I was determined to make it work for me. The first couple nights were really wierd, but the second morning I woke up and realized I felt rested, relaxed, but not groggy as all hell! Also, don't forget there is a very, very good chance you could come off it when you have gotten rid of some weight! One other plus- sleep apnea is one of the co-morbdities that helps us qualify for insurance! Hang in there!!!

I have sleep apnea - and I do really good by putting it on at night - but I can't seem to wake up with it - Hmmmm Hope you have better luck - I was hoping it would go away when I lost the weight - seeing the post that they still have it after the surgery worries me a little - but I am not nearly as bad as Dave - WOW P.S. Glad to see you back Dave - hope all is well
