Default Home from my hernia repair and panni removal

I had my surgery on monday. And was home on Tuesday night. Feels like someone punched me in my ribs and found out that the surgeon had to attach the mesh to my ribs because the hernia was so big. Not in too much pain. I have three drains which aren't draining much. Just a little bothersome because they are right above the pubic area and the tape is pulling ...
I have been doing fine. Go for a follow up tomorrow ( HOPE THE weather doesn't mess it up) I was getting dressed yesterday and passed out ( ongoing for over 14 years now, not a wls related thing) opened my eyes and hubby is saying " you ok ?" My shoulder is sore so I made a dr. appt. (pcp) he had me get xrays and calls me and says " you have a couple of fractered ribs !" So still taking my percocet for my shoulder not the hernia repair. I'm wondering if it happened while I was in the hospital. When the tech came in for me to do the spirometer I inhaled so much the first time I was really in pain...So just wanted to fill you all in on what is happening.

Congrats on your surgery...sounds like you had a rough day - take it easy. Did you find out how much they removed? Also did they cut you hip to hip and vertical or just hip to hip....just curious as to the type of procedures out there...I am on the list for my panni.

Default Thanks

It was an anchor cut..hip to hip. Don't know how much she took off I'll ask her when I see her for my follow up. They cancelled due to weather today. This was taken the day after. My big scare from the wound vac is gone ! I'll post pic when I can get them smaller.

congratulations and bless your little heart. I know it was bad enough recovering from my hernia repair/tummy tuck. I can't imagine the added pain of fractured ribs on top of that. I fractured 3 ribs years ago (pleuresy) and know how painful they are. Gentle, healing hugs coming your way.

Default Ouch

I know your pain and can't believe they attached the mesh to your ribs...what is yours made of? My mesh is made of polypropelene and I had nothing but complications because the hernia was too big and my mesh was way too big...it covers the area from my sternum down to the pubic bone, so I have a huge piece of plastic...

I hope it all goes well for you and your mesh works out ok. Let me know what kind they used if you know. I am so curious. I heard from another patient here that she had gortex because of my troubles and it worked out good for her.

First, welcome home! I hope you feel better soon. I feel for you with those fractured ribs. I had pneumonia two years ago and fractured two ribs from coughing. I think I had more pain and trouble with the ribs than I did being sick. So, they are not fun. Keep us posted how you are doing!
