Default thanks for the pats...

Thanks, guys, for the serious replies... I'm so thankful on a daily basis that none of my issues have been serious complications. Wrapping my mind around being thin is finally beginning to happen, and I think we're all going through that to a certain extent. Some of the processes just never occurred to me prior to the reality of it, and I'm working it through on the forum. Your support is, as always, a blessing.

Default throwing in my 2 cents....

I know personally one of the reasons i avoided the doc preop is they automatically attached it back to my weight....i have an ear infection...its because I am fat!!! Because I had a round face and short tubes. News flash I1'm not mobidly obese anymore and i still have nose and ear troubles!

Weight affects a lot of health issues but not all. A good doc or FNP can seperate. Also how many times did the doc tell us to loose weight, like hello I didn't realize I was overweight and it would cause health issues. Wow now that I know that I'll get right on healthy eating and exercising. lol

Have you considered that you might be pre-menopausal? It can cause insomnia. Why not ask for complete bloodwork that includes your thyroid levels, hormone levels and your B 12 level.

Good Luck.

Update on my knee injections.....

Here's a link to the injections that I had - they weren't cortisone - there were something completely different. So far, I'm very pleased with the results. My alternative would have been to have the knee "scoped", and if that didn't work, knee replacement surgery. I don't want to go there....

Thank you for the thought you put into the possibilities. Actually, I had a full hysterectomy five years ago, and don't take hormones at all, so that is a thought. My B-12 will be checked along with all my supplement levels if I can talk the doc into doing my 18-month labs a month early. I'll definitely talk to him about the thyroid thing...

Default Today's results

My tests will be later this week, when enough of the snow clears for me to get back out and get my labs taken. They are going to test my thyroid, as well as all the usual stuff.

The knee problem may well be a meniscal tear. He said my ACL, MCL, etc., were in good shape, nice and tight. The tear may eventually require surgery, but he's referring me for an MRI to get a good picture of what's going on.

My blood pressure was fine, and he didn't seem to be too worried about the episode the other night. If I start feeling dizzy every time I stand up from a laying down position, not just in the bathtub, then he wants to hear about it.

He gave me two weeks of Lunesta samples to try, and said he will give me a prescription if these work. I'm taking the first one tonight, and truly hoping for a full night's sleep for the first time in six to eight months.

I also found out that I have trochanteric bursitis in my left hip (I always thought it hurt to lay on it because of my obesity), which may eventually require cortisone shots.

And my elbow issues are probably just the beginnings of arthritis. Being 46 ain't no picnic, before or after the surgery!

Hmmmm....interesting Lisa. You know I have pain right in the same spot. I was just gripping about it earlier today to DH. I thought it was because I often sleep on my left hip and I had irritated it or something. This is some info to keep in mind if it continues to bother me. So far it isn't bad, its just kind of there...you know?...not something I would even feel that I needed to take anything for pain. Thanks for the helpful info.
