Default what is recovery time for Pannis removal or tummy tuck

We just had another insurance change over to Kaiser. We use to have Kaiser 2 years ago too, and I LOVED my primary Dr., so I just wanted to catch her up on my health...... I asked her about the pannis removal or tummy tuck and she said, "oh, I've referred several people to the plastic surgeon after WLS and they have had it done." That simple. I have to call the plastic surgeon office in 3 working days to get my appt., but it sounds like this is going to happen. What is the recover time, and how long should I plan on being out of work. Now I know that everyone is different, so I will keep that in mind. I have a desk job.

I will be having my hernie repair/TT on 3/9 and plan on taking 4 weeks off. I also have a desk job, and have fore-warned my boss that I may still be hobbly and hunched over, and he said he would accomodate anything I needed (it happened to be the time when I was also giving my resignation for May ).

Default For me...well different story

I was supposed to be 6 weeks standard, but had complications and numerous revisions. Had a ventral hernia repair and TT at the same time. I would suggest 6 weeks if you had a physical job, but think you might be ok with less since you have a desk job.

WOW, I didn't realize that so much recovery time was involved. I was expecting a week...... I may need to seriously think about this. I know there is one girl at work who can cover the important stuff, so we will see. I just won't say anything at work until it is all approved and scheduled. Thanks

I was out for 2 months. I had some infection and drainage issues though.

I also have a desk job. I had my TT on 10/21/06 I went back to work on 11/1/06 and dislodged a tube and got an infection I was taking back out of work till 11/15/06. So I needed almost 4 weeks. I recovered pretty qucik. I was up and walking around pretty good after the first few days. If it wasn't for the infection I would have been fine with being out of work for only 2 weeks.

The majority of people get an infection post any skin removal....so that's what holds things up.

Default No infections for me

And I was cut open more than 6 times in my abdomen. I think it all depends on the person and where the surgery is performed. My doctor will not do breasts at the same time as hernia repairs due to risk of infection and cross contamination. If you have surgery in an outpatient place where they perform just PS surgery, it is cleaner than in the OR...in the OR, they may perform a rectal surgery right before or something considered contaminating and it can get into the next surgery. My sister works as a surgical tech and she has witnessed many things and how the OR is definately not as controlled and clean as a private surgery center of a PS surgeon. My PS surgeon's surgical center is in his office and pristine. He had to do the ventral hernia repair with the TT in the OR and then do implants and lift at another time in his office. It was more money, but I didn't want any risk of infection...and did not get one infection.....just problems with the plastic mesh...being way to big for me.
