Questions about Ulcers
I don't know if this is an ulcer or not, but I have been having pain honestly in the middle of my chest, sort of between my belly button and throat. It's even in the middle such as front to back. It is ok after I eat, but about 2 hours after I eat, even when I'm very careful about drinking, it hurts. I mean I can double over it hurts so bad. So then I go and eat something little, maybe some cheese, or soy nuts, and it gets better. The other odd part is it's not all the time. Last week it only bothered me one day. Today it's bad, maybe it will hurt tomorrow, maybe not. Any ideas???

Jennifer,
First of all you should be calling your Doctor with this kind of ?
I wonder if it may be some sort of acid reflux. Sounds like it if food helps and then it comes back and not being constant is another clue.
Call your doctor and ask, It can't hurt.
May God Bless you and Yours

Does i get you up in teh middle of the night? I had similar symptoms and it was a peptic ulcer. Get i checked out...we're at risk for them as our stomachs are too small to handle the acid production, plus, H. pyloir is a bacteria that can casue them too.

Believe me!!!!! If it's an ulcer, you WANT to know and start treating it. Those things can get nasty and take a while to get rid of and very painful. Will cause you to start throwing up too. I had one a month after surgery and I didn't get to eat solid food till I was almost 4 months out, so yeah....GO TO DR.

Doctor
I have an appointment on Friday. I have been to my PCP about 3 times since surgery and she keeps doing tests and I have had a few upper GI's. It's just so frustrating. It will hurt for a few days, so I will make an appointment, then it quits! Oh well, I just knew you guys might have some suggestions. I do have Acid Reflux (always have), this is almost like indegestion (sorry about my spelling). My doctor is begining to think some weird type of food aleregy, my body just refuses to be 'normal'!

Did you find out anything? I am up tonight and my chest is on fire! I didn't make the best choices in food today, well not so much the food choice, but the pattern of eating...I want to say I was hungry, but don't get that feeling, none the less I ate a few things for supper...small portion, just variety. You think I can sleep now!!! not....tried tums, no luck! Gonna try tea or cocoa soon as it driving me.
Interested in finding out what you have and/or what the doc says.

What did I find out?
Nothing, again My PCP switched me from Zantac to Pepcid (actually the generic, but I can't spell those ) I have another appointment with her tomorrow and I see the surgeon on Thursday. The scary part is the Pepcid seems to be helping, but I'm taking 20mg in the morning, 20 mg in the afternoon (between lunch and dinner) and 20 mg before bed. That just seems like sooo much to me. I will let you know if I find out anything else. Are you feeling any better now?
