Question Is there a place....

Is there a website I can go to so I can get information from start to finish. I have been going thru tons of tests and have not met the surgeon yet. I have a pretty general idea of what happens, but example I didnt know that you have to go on a liquid diet before the surgery. Basicly I am just looking for all the information I can find..... Thanks guys

Just so you know, everyone doesn't have to do a liquid diet pre op. They recommend different supplements, some like liquid protein, some have you on clears for 2 weeks after surgery and some advance you to puree food quickly. You need to find your surgeon and then learn about his/her program. We all have physicians with their own ways of doing things. Here is the link to my MD's web page. I hope you find it usefull and remember, your doctor may do things a bit differently. http://www.surgicalweightcontrol.com...ient_info.html

Dyann is sooooo right! I had a panic attack a couple of days before my surgery because I thought I needed a bowel prep the night before and it turns out that my surgeon was one of the one's that don't require that, like a few others on this board. Also, I am 8 days post-op and could technically start on soft/pureed foods today if I wanted, whereas some people are on full liquids for up to 4-wks before advancing to soft/pureed.

So, try to get as much info as possible from your research so you have a comprehensive list of questions when you do see your surgeon. Also, there's a book call Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies. Some of the folks on here swear by it and I'm thinking about looking for it too.

Good luck in your journey!

You can browse this doctor's site to. There's a link on the top left that says Gastric Bypass. Dr. Callery and his team is very successful and have done over 2500 procedures.

Also http://www.asbs.org is a wealth of info.

However, you really need to find out what th surgeons in your area are doing. They all have seminars you can attend.

Welcome. This is one of the best places I know for information. Each doctor and/or nutritionist can be different...I learned that here as my doc doesn't give a lot of information.

Key thing is to follow the instructions of you doctor when you get one. Is there anything in particular you are looking for now...I am sure one of us...or more....can give you our experiences.
