Post Looking for Primary Care that is advocate of Gastric Bypass

Hello,

I'm new here so please bear with me.

I've been trying to locate a primary care physician in the San Diego, California area that is an advocate of gastric bypass as a tool for weight loss.

My BMI is 50 and I do have co-morbidity issues. My current doctor recommended the surgery but my previous insurance denied the request. I am changing insurance to Blue Cross California Care on January 1, 2005 and was hoping someone or several someones in the San Diego, CA area could give me the name of an physician that they have worked with that views gastric bypass as a viable option. Someone-a primary care physician-that would refer me to Dr. Callery's office.

If anyone can help me with this, I would really appreciate it. Thanking you in advance.

Deana

Smile Hi Deana

Welcome to the best board around! Okay a question to better help direct you.. are you going to be assigned to a specific HCO like Sharp or Kaiser or ???? Also, you could call Dr Callery's office and ask them of what Dr's they are familiar with that refer to Dr Callery with that type of insurance. Im sure they would be more than happy to help. I hope that last bit of info helps ya out. Talk to you soon, and again welcome!

California Care is much easier to get approved on. I have Dr. Arvin Saluta at Sharp Reese Stealey Downtown. He is very popular and got me approved and also said California Care is easier to get approved on. He just put me in for my tummy tuck and Bust Reduction. He is awesome.

Katy-

Breast reduction????? I think most of us need an augmentation!

Deana- try North County Internists if they're on the list. I have Dr. Cottel who was my biggest supporter.

Kelly,
How does the dr. do that when you haven't even had surgery yet? Must be on top of things. Secrets, do tell!

How does Dr. Saluta do with his patient? He is a wonderful, caring MD. He always checks on his patients...he knows who they are, And ALWAYS calls back! He is also on the UR commitee at SRS (this is BIG). At an appointment he takes his time with you, he will even sit down at the appointment with you. None of this rushing the patient through! NEVER! He is young...mid 30's maybe. His father was an Internist.

Bring it on...what else do you want to know

Default Woops Tara!

HEHEHE I read your question wrong...he is documenting that I get rashes under my breasts and have back pain. The rashes can tecnically only get worse, right, once the fat is gone. That is how...a little more clear than my other answer...hehehehe...sorry, I though your were asking me what kind of Dr. is he.

Because I was a 44 DD before surgery with lots of upper back pain. I also have extreme nexk and shoulder pain due to a work injury. Even though I am now a 34 D almost a 32 D I need the extra skin off. It is pulling the middle of my back. Same with the pannis it is causing extreme lower back pain.
