Question Ladies, any knowledge about BCP?

Hello everyone,
I have a question for all you ladies....
I have taken Birth Control Pills for years and did so up until 2 weeks before my surgery.
I am currently 3 and a half months out and started a new kind of pills 2 weeks ago. It is a fairly new pill called Sesonale. It has 90 days of continuous hormones, and then a menstral cycle. I am a little concerned about this affecting my weight loss. Have any of you ladies taken BCP post-op and if so, has it affected your weight-loss? I don't want to hinder the honeymoon period at all!
Thanks in Advance,
Crystal

I have been on BCP since March and I am down 90 pounds in 6 months and Kelly said I am on target. I am not aware of the pill you are on. I am on Nortrel. Did you ask your doctor about the choices before the pill was prescribed?

Seasonale is the average BCP in a different cycle. In the usual course of BCP, you take the active pill for 21-25 days then the inactive pills for about a week. During the week off, you menstrate. With Seasonale, you continue to take the active pills for 90 days straight before taking a week off to menstrate. As with any BCP, there's pros and cons. I myself use Nuva-ring which is inserted vaginally and works for 3 weeks. There's also the BCP patch, which I tried and discovered I'm sensitive to the adhesive used. I still have the scars from the blisters it caused. Any hormone based method will have some side effects. The literature states that weight gain is only mild and generally if you've been on BCP for awhile, then the side effects shouldn't be any worse than the first time you started. As for me, BCP beats the side effects of pregnancy.
