This is soooooo cool! I'm watching them put in the ports while looking at my own scars . . . now I know what they did to me!
Thank you so much for listing this link.

Ok, just watched the webcast of the lap RNY...I promise not to cheat on my liver shrinking diet!! I want to have the smallest liver my surgeon has ever seen!
I know it's good for me to watch and be as informed as possible, but jeez! I had a few nervous moments where I wondered, "What the HECK are you about to do to yourself??" Then I saw the new baby pouch and it's all good.
Thanks Zen, er I think.

That was VERY interesting!
I saw your post right at 7:00 and was able to get online to watch it. I talked my wife into watching too. I really liked the care with which they made sure that nothing leaked. It also seemed that the doctors and nurses were genuinely nice people.
Unfortunately Davenport is about 7 hours from here, so it would probably not be practical to have it done there, considering the pre and post appointments.
Does anyone know of a resource that ranks hospitals on this procedure? The closest city of any size to here is Sioux Falls, SD. I would like to find out if the doctors/hospital there have a good success rate/reputation for this procedure.
Thanks for the link last night! And thanks all for any direction you may be able to provide.

They have what is termed as "Centers of Excellence in Bariatrics". You can find hospitals and programs all over the US that rank as one of these centers. You can check with Obesity Help.com for listings and other information about choosing a rep. Surgeon and Center. Sorry, I am not familiar with the SD region. And yes, it's very cool to see my Surgeon preform the surgery. I was pretty impressed watching what happened to me too! I think it's pretty cool...but I am in nursing right now and surgery is where I want to be, so I guess that is why I was facinated!
I think our Center offers a TON of services and support for Bariatric patients, and is one of the main reasons that I choose the Dr. I did. The surgery is on tape now and can be viewed at any time...feel free to check it out if you haven't yet!! Lots of information about the program, surgery and lifestyle are also given. Pretty great link for Pre-ops and curious Post-op's!
