OT - Now What?
Ok, I know I have been gone for about a week, sorry. I wanted to catch everyone up. You guys all know I was having 'problems' at work and was looking for a new job. Well on Dec. 28, I got 'let go'. I am ok with it, I was not happy there anymore, and because I was 'let go' according to my boss for lack of work, I can collect unemployment while I look for a new job. I am actually happy and relieved to be out of that office, so it isn't a bad thing. I do want to thank everyone for listening to me and offereing their advise while I was complaining so much about work You guys are great!!
Here is my problem now... Here I am 35 years old, single, no kids (just Baxter and no one will legally let me count the dog as a dependant). I have lived near NYC and between Baltimore and DC and of course Pittsburgh where I grew up. I left the DC area and moved back to Pittsburgh because of my health, it was getting very bad and I wanted to be close to home so when I needed (or wanted) my parents they could be there to help me. Well I'm not that sick anymore! Actually I'm better than I have ever been and I have only lost the first 100 pounds! So now what? Do I stay in Pittsburgh or go back to NYC? I really liked it there and I think I would be a little more active and outgoing now. What do you guys think? What would you do if you were me?
Thanks!

Never thought of that!
Wow, what kind of trouble could I get into in CA??? Might be nice to be near an ocean, but what do I do if the ground starts to move?????

I say come to CA too. Lots of opportunity here too. Hope to see you soon
PS: The ground doesn't shake that much here. San Diego hasn't had any major earthquakes in a very long time. Hope I don't jinks us all.

EEEK! Earthquake! Run away! Run away! Just kidding...
To get THIS weather and be this close to an ocean, I'll always take earthquakes over all the other freaky Mother Nature things the rest of the country can dish out. Plus, after living in Boston for 3 years, I've discovered I only like visiting the snow, NOT living in it!
I'd say move to CA too, but that's mostly because I'm a native and I don't care much for NYC! But like Marie said - do what YOU want to do.
Sorry about the job, but it sounds like it worked out for the best. Got to be honest, after my surgery, I'm almost praying for my boss to fire me so I can get away from that situation - we'll see what happens. Good luck with your search!

What a wonderful opportunity you have in your life right now... new you, new job, new place to live. I say look at ALL the options, think about where you would be the happiest and what is most important in your life and then make a choice based on those.

Jennifer, sorry to hear about the job. I know it's rough, but look at it more as a blessing. Sometimes we are pushed to move in the right direction when we are not moving that way ourselves. You have a great opportunity ahead of you now to find a new job and the new you is on its way! Good luck and let us know if you need any support. Keep us posted on the changes.
