Default Things I Never Thought of before surgery . . .

OK, now that I'm over 9 months post op, I thought I'd write a list of all the things I'd never thought of before I had this surgery. I know I had surgery for my health and future, but the surgery has giving me so much more. Maybe I was fooling myself when I was heavy, I thought I had a wonderful life, but now . . . WOW. These are just random thoughts, please add your own.

I never thought. . . .

1. My clothes size would be smaller than my shoe size.
2. I wouldn't be the heaviest person at work.
3. I'd be competing in martial arts again.
4. I would enjoy clothes shopping.
5. I would feel full after eating a small meal.
6. I would love HIGH heels, my feet used to hurt with most heels.
7. I was cheating my kids when I was heavier, but now I have to much more energy to play with them.
8. Some people would be angry or negative with my size or success. I had a stranger make a comment to me at TJ Maxx over the weekend . . . I was shopping with a girlfriend and there was a pair of jeans on clearance . . . they only had a size 4 so I told her to grab them and I'd try them on . . . the girl shopping in the size 10 area said "look at me, I'm a size 4" in a catty voice. If only she knew.
9. I was bothered by movie theater seating and concert seating . . . but I was!! I enjoy movies and concerts so much more now.

And lastly, I just never thought I'd be small. I thought I'd be so happy if I was a size 12 and could shop in the Misses department. It still kinda freaks me out.

Hi Buddie,

Congrats on being 9 months out, your anniversary is right around the corner. I loved your list, I can't wait until I can make one of my own. I'm already doing things I couldn't before, and its only going to get better.

I too thought a 12 would be a total dream....so every size from there, down to the size 2-3 I am now, I bought too many clothes.....thinking there is no way I'd be smaller. Wow!

I never thought I'd no longer even be able to shop in a "regular" store for jeans or shorts.....for those I end up surrounded my teenagers. Or that when I do shop, I am at the OTHER end of the rack!

I never thought I'd wear a skirt that you can't really bend over in.

I never thought I would sit in a chair to tie my shoe and be able to bring my foot clear up onto the chair with me to do it.

I never thought I'd actually admit or notice the occasional guys watching me....and not to make fun.
