Default Content to pause, I hope

This is for all of us who are hyped on the numbers (and I'm raising my hand on that one, too). I have been stuck between 3 and 7 pounds from my goal for the last two months. I have been trying not to whine or blubber about it, but it's been bloody frustrating. So, in black and white, and for all the forum to see, here are my lessons learned.

1. That I may have limited my own progress with a goal that was too easy. Bridget wrote on this subject once--that our goals both define and limit us in a lot of ways. Perhaps I should have set my goal lower, pushed myself more. I don't know.
2. That taking advantage of the honeymoon period is a reality--if I didn't work hard enough during those six blessed months before the weight loss started to slow, then I am the ONLY one who pays the price in regrets or recriminations, no one else.
3. That when I'm ready--January 1 comes to mind--I will set a new goal and work toward it.
4. And, to put the lie to all the things I've just said: Numbers don't mean squat - it's how I feel, and I feel like a million bucks (OK, a million bucks sitting in a deep freeze, 'cause I'm cold all the time, but a million bucks, nonetheless).

The ability to hold conflicting ideas in your head without drooling on the carpet and banging your head on the doorframes may be the only true definition of sanity. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

A-freakin-men! When we set a goal we can predestine ourselves to failure. Don't get me wrong, it's great to have goals! But that being said, if we set an unrealistic goal we will only feel a heightened sense of failure. Or if we set a realistic goal that because of our own inner demons and self-sabatoge we can not attain we feel even worse. IF you are determined to set a goal, first make it realistic, and second, create a plan of action and stick to it. Don't let the quandry created in your own mind limit your level of success! And find inner contentment in who you are and your already hard traveled road to success! Plus it's just a number right???? But that being said, if you need someone to kick you in the ass from time to time... I volunteer darlin.... and you can do the same for me... of course I'm so tall mine's harder to reach!
