Default pre-op diet

Good morning all. Well my 2 week pre-op liquid diet begins tomorrow. How do you all get through this? what exactly does everyone consume during this period and how much? I suppose you can drink all the propel yoyu want. How many protein shakes is expected. How about an egg or 2 during this period. I understand that whatever your body processes into liquid is allowed but what are some of these types of food. This 2 week diet has me worried a bit

Anything in liquid form or pudding, jello, cream soups, boullion, and yogurt. That's about it I think. But that will help keep you from feeling like you are starving. Make smoothies with yogurt, protein powder, and milk. They are great and SO filling! GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I didn't have to do one...so, I have no idea how you can do it. If your surgeon wants you to do it, then stick to it. I had a friend who didn't stick to her pre-op diet and the surgeon canceled her surgery!

You should have a list of exactly what to eat and how much! I had broth, SF jello, SF popsicles, propel and "clear" protein shakes - as much as I wanted. No milk or yogurt for me - so you'd better call the doc and find out!!

I was put on a two week clear liquid diet before surgery and I couldn't make it. I ended up eating vegetables during the two weeks and losing 17 lbs. during that time.

I think if I'd been able to have "full liquids", I might have done better. I wasn't prepared for how hard it was...I wish you good luck!!
