Default 9 weeks post op

Hello everyone. Gee I wish I were closer to Poway so I could attend some of these meetings and the party and all. I really think I miss a lot due to not attending any classes post op. I just found a place 1.5 hours away that does classes and I am really thinking about going to one and see how it is. I am 9.5 weeks out and down 46 lbs. I really feel like I should have lost more than this but I am going to Curves 5 nights a week so I figure that the muscle I am building is slowing the loss down? Please someone tell me that is right. I also look at my kids and think I have lost over what one of them weighs and almost what the other weighs. I am not regreting this surgery at all though I have my days of being sick. I shouldnt say sick but if I swallow to fast or something to dry I know, BELIEVE me I know!!! I hope to get on here more often cause I have no support here other than this forum and I know I could use it. Hope everyone is having a great Holiday Season. Best Wishes from Missouri.

Dale I know it would help me so much if I could attend. I know I am doing things wrong and I do keep in touch with Sandi and she fills me in too. I have been having so many episodes of being sick. Just eating something and it gets stuck in my throat and wont go down. Why is that? They didnt do surgery on my throat so what is the deal? I have learned I can eat a little popcorn and it doesnt bother me at all. I was excited!! I went to my sisters over Thanksgiving and that is what she has as a snack at night so I tried a little and it was great!! I am just gonna stay away from the movie popcorn cause I know that could be my death!! haha Love that stuff! I have decided that I dont like the holidays though because I cant enjoy all the good food. It is not that I want the food but seeing makes me want to taste things. I am gonna make something I know I can have and that tastes yummy and take to xmas events with me. If anyone has any great receipes that would be good. I have the cookbook for surgery but always looking for something new too.

Default Sondra,

Your weight loss of 46 in 9.5 weeks is GREAT! You should be proud of yourself and celebrating your success.

I am sorry to hear about the getting sick part. That's a real bummer. I have a hard time remembering to take smaller bites and chew, chew, chew. When I don't - my body reminds me real quick.

I just started working out M-F for 30 minutes at lunch on a recumbent bike. My weight loss has stalled, I'm hoping the same as you that my muscule is gaining on the fat and I'm loosing inches

I hope you'll stay with us here so we can keep track of you! We wish you could be here too! Can we post that hospital picture of you and all us yet?

As for the weight not coming off fast I am telling myself it is due to working out. I absolutely love going to Curves! It makes me feel so much better in the evening, I actually get stuff done when the kids go to bed!!!

OK gals I'm going to tell you from my view that the weight loss does slow but it picks back up. A good example of this is me. I've been working out really hard for about 3 weeks now with a new trainer and my weight loss slowed down. This week it picked up and I've lost 7 lbs in about 4 days. I don't think of 7 lbs being a lot but today I put on a pair of pants Anglea gave me 3 weeks ago and they fit great then now they are falling off of me to the point I had to put a belt on today. I have to go shoping this weekend to get some more 16's.

I hope this helps a little but you know losing any weight is great because this is going to be a life time of having the weight off not a yo yo diet.

Also remember we did this to be normal not be on a diet for the next 50 years.

Love you guys

Thumbs up Same Here

Hello Family,

I'm stuck in the same rut, but because of all of you posting before, I knew what to expect. I'm just a little over 5 weeks out and the scale is not moving. I only wanted to go on the scale at my doctors appt.'s, but my trainer made me get on at the gym. I'm really hoping there is a big difference between their scale and mine.

Default 9 weeks

You are doing great at losing 49 pounds in 9 weeks. I checked my pocket calendar (that I have kept my weekly loss in since my surgery) and I had lost the same amount of weight in that time period. It will go quickly although right now you think it is going slow. I am now almost 15 months post op and I have lost 179 pounds. I look back and can see the time did go fast and my weight loss was steady. I figured my plateau was when I lost a pound instead of the usual 2 to 5 pounds a week I was losing. I didn't experience not losing anything until I weighed in the 150's. I was 43 weeks or 10 months post op when that occured.
The first few months are the hardest. I remember hating to eat because nothing seemed to taste good and I had to learn to slow down and chew my food really good. Giving up fluid when I ate was hard too. I did try soups because I could have liquid to get the meat down. I just didn't eat the noodles, rice or potatoes in the soup.
This is a great adjustment and the next 3 months will go smoother for you. I remember last Christmas and the only thing I missed was the eggnog. I had
problems eating anything sweetened artificially or naturally (fruit) at that time
so I got through the holidays not craving anything. I hear that I was lucky I didn't tolerate sweet things because some people can eat sweets and it doesn't bother them.
If you can stay away from items that have sugar in them then that will help you succeed to your goal. Use items with Spenda or Equal in place of sugar.
Once again you are doing great so relax and enjoy the new you!
