Girly question re:nail polish during surgery
I vaguely recall being told I can't wear nail polish to surgery for some reason or another. What I want to know is this: Does that apply to my feet as well? I want to get a pedicure tomorrow morning. I prefer color on my tootsies but will go with a french pedicure if I must. Yeah, I know it's kind of a lame question but, as my sister says, I'm terminally girly.

Janina, I believe that as long as they can see some of your nail beds, either hand or foot, you will be okay. As I remember, I had clear polish on my hands and hot pink on my toes.

It's okay for you to wear toenail polish. Just don't polish the fingernails.

Me, too...in fact...my anesthesiologist noted my glitter tips and complimented my nails. He never says a thing and I had them many different ways.
I think it just depends on whether or not they say not to have them.

They need to be able to read your "pulse ox"... this is done using your nailbeds. It is difficult to do through fingernail polish. Only does the toes!

I specifically asked my surgeon about color on the fingers and he said as long as you have them like you have them now (French manicure) it is fine. I always do my toes a dark color...red or burgundy

Yes - do ask your doc. Mine said no problem, and I had my nails filled right before with no problems...
