I always enjoy seeing other "post-opers" in the clinic waiting room, and let me tell you, we're obvious, just by how our clothes fit, baggy butts, flapping thighs - oh and the looks of comparisons.
As I was sitting - waiting for my Dr. to call upon me this past Tues., I overheard an older lady ask me if I had bypass. I said Yes, back in July and this is when it all started - the talk!
We started to compare notes. She had lapband, I had RNY, she had surgery 7 months back and lost 35 lbs, I had surgery two months back and lost 40 lbs etc.. etc...
As we were hashing over our notes, a younger lady sat right down next to me in amazement. She wanted in our conversation - and I let her. She was going in for her first consultation - her first one that day. She admitted that she was so scared - and wanted to know about it all (the surgery) in an instant.
As we continued to talk about our do's and don'ts, and frustrations, I was called in to my appointment. My celebrity moment was done!!!!
Later that night - my regret hit. I should've gave my phone number to the scared gal - to help her along. I didn't think until it was too late. How could I have turned my back on her - a person so scared and having no one to support her? Shame on me!!!
But, I have to remember, she's gonna have a great bypass team behind her - that's the Godsend.
By the way, I'm doing fantastic in my weight loss - my two month appointment went well.
