Thanks Dyann. You are right I'm pretty upset about my daughter. She's only 24 and is worried this will effect her ability to have children. I know she's pretty freaked out about all of this but is just starting her first year of nursing school and she's feeling somewhat overwhelmed with every thing. It will be 2 weeks on Thursday since her procedure so I hope she hears. I told her to call the office if they don't call her. I haven't been overly thrilled with the way they have handled this whole situation so I am having my doubts that they will call her promptly. They haven't been very forth-coming with information about any of this. They never really explained why they were doing the LEEP procedure or what it even really was. She only knew that her cells had become worse over the past pap smears. Her PCP is the only one that has really explained much to her and he isn't the one involved with this. She just called him because she was so upset about the Gyn. not explaining much and she wanted some kind of answers. The Gyn. has left it up to his nurses who haven't been very impressive I'm afraid.
I'll keep you all informed and thanks for letting me vent. I feel like I've been doing alot of that lately.

I know most of you are aware of the emotional time I went through with the breast biopsy a few weeks ago. Thankfully prayers were answered and all was well but the month hasn't got a lot better for me, I'm afraid. Right after my biopsy my oldest daughter was told she needed some further testing to check to see if she has cervical cancer. She has gone through those tests but now we are sitting and waiting for the results of her tests. She has pretty severely abnormal cervical cells and they are unsure what is causeing it. She had to have a LEEP procedure to take a better biopsy and to burn off the irregular cells. Then last week I developed shingles (probably brought on by the stress I've been under). I went through a week or so of a lot of pain and itching from the shingles. The pain has now finally passed though I still am having a lot of problems with the itching. The rash is looking better, so I am hopefully on the down side of this. In the middle of all of this last Friday my biopsy incision split open due to fluid collecting in the area where the dr took out the tissue so I was off to the doctor once again to have him look at it. It's doing okay but has to re-heal a bit.
Anyway I've just really lost my appetite. I don't know if it's the meds I'm on for for the shingles or all of the added stress lately but eating has been a bit of an issue. I think because I haven't been eating much my body has been thrown into the "starvation mode" and I have also hit my first plateau. I'm just working at getting in my protein as best as I can along with my water, getting out and walking (though I haven't been doing the best with my exercising lately ). The weather turned suddenly cool and rainy here in michigan so I'm having a hard time motivating myself to go outside and the pain from the shingles has kept me off of my exercise bike.
I know things will get better. The good thing is that I haven't turned to eating during the stress of the month. I am finding other ways to cope that are more healthy for me.
Sorry for the depressing post. I just wanted all of you to know that I am still around, thinking of all of you but struggling a bit right now.

Things will get better...they just have to. I know how you are feeling...honestly I have been going through a lot lately and can relate.
I had cervical cancer, too and was so frightened. I was a single Mom at the time going through an awful, abusive divorce with two little kids and I was sooooo scared. All worked out for the best and I know it will work out for your daughter. I will pray for her and just let her know that I will send out some strength to her. Let her know that she is not alone.
As for you, I am here to support you through and if I can be of help, please pm me for some cheer. You have every right to feel down and coming here hopefully will bring you some sunshine and smiles.
Take care...I am sending hugs to you

I had a child after I had the leep and everything was fine. They told me I may have to have my cervix sewn together during my pregnancy, but all was well. As a matter of fact, I had the opposite problem...my cervix wouldn't dialate with a full bag of Patosin(sp) and they realized that from the leep I developed scar tissue that held me closed. All will be just fine. I will keep praying and sending thoughts your way.

I had a similiar situation myself Beth. I had the Leep, everything was fine. I was just happy to get rid of those "weird" cells. If you don't get rid of them they could turn into cancer in the future so better safe then sorry.
Hang in there. You've had a very rough month. Here's a BIG hug! {{{{{{{{{{{{{BETH}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Dale, Michelle and Melanie- Thanks you guys! I believe everything is going to be okay with my daughter but as with me, it's the not knowing. From what I picked up from what her PCP told her (who is also mine) they still aren't sure what's going on with her. They were unable to get any answers when they did the colposcopy first so that's why they went to the LEEP procedure. They don't know if she has weird cells because of HPV or if it is cervical cancer or what exactly is going on. All they know is that they have become progressively worse over the past 2 years. So I'm just hoping this will give them the answers so all of our minds can be set to rest.
I promise to take care of myself. I just finished my last med for the shingles that my PCP put me on so if that was what was adding to my decreased appetite maybe it will help to be done with them. Still have the itching but thank goodness the pain seems to be done. That pain was worse than my wls pain!!
Well its still raining here in Michigan so I'm not sure if any outside walk will be happening but for now I'm off to the dentist to get my teeth drilled on. Oh goody! I can hardly wait!! NOT!!!! *l*
Thanks again guys, you're the greatest!!

Truly, when it rains, it pours, dear heart. My thoughts will be with you and your daughter--please be sure to update us when you can. So glad your own results were OK--had been checking to see, but somehow missed this post yesterday.
Don't sweat the venting, dear, I think we've all been here and done that. That's what families are for. Hang in there, the sun will come out soon.

New vaccines
I know there is a new vaccine for HPV and that is great. I did hear that they came up with a new vaccine for shingles??? Is that true?
Beth, I hope you are in too much pain with your shingles...I know many people with it and it is very painful. Prayers still coming your way.

Dale, I've read about the HPV vaccine. I think its great too. I know nothing about a vaccine for shingles, though. That would be a new one on me.
The pain is alot better since the rash opened and scabbed up. Its just itching that I'm dealing with now. My PCP was great and had ordered me a pretty potent pain pill I had been taking and it at least kept it under tolerable control.
