Default What ARE the 'Pouch Rules'?????

I am in another country and havent had access to Pre-op or post-op support groups and such. This forum and another site (Gastric Bypass Family) are my only support. (Thank God for both) I keep on reading about the pouch rules. What exactly are they? Thank You all so much.

Run a search on "Pouch rules" in the upper right hand, and you should find it. It is a wonderfule reminder to get back to basics

I have run a search. I can find no set-down rules. I hate to be a bother but I have spent more than an hour (I am on Over-Seas Dial-Up--very expensive) I just wish I could find them. Thanks for your help.Tammy

Tammy, here is the link where the rules are discussed.

http://thinnertimesforum.com/showthr...+rules+dummies

Now my dr doesn't exactly agree with these rules at least if you are less than 6 months out. The rules he gave me are (at 3-6 months):

1. Stop drinking 15 min before meals
2. Don't drink with meals.
3. Wait 45 min to an hour before drinking after meals.
4. Take 20-30 min to eat.
5. Eat 3 meals and a snack. No grazing.
6. Chew foods well, at least 20-25 times before swallowing.
7. Take 60-80 grams of protein, < 30 gms of fat, 1000-1200 calories (at 6 months post-op)
8. Stop eating when you are full.
9. Limit liquids with calories.
10. Avoid sweet foods or high-fat.
11. Eat protein first.
12. 64 oz of non-calorie liquids per day with half coming from water.

Now at your stage they were about the same except:
1. 50-60 gms of protein.
2. 5-6 small meals.

I didn't have to worry about counting calories or fat at this stage and it was okay if my protein came from liquids. All of the rest of the rules were the same.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. I was never informed of most of the rules. I truly appreciate it.
