Lightbulb Baby Shower Ideas

OK. I have finally come up with an idea for my little bumble bees shower. I was stuck between "A star is going to be Born" and a "Baby Luau". Of course without much though I decided to go with the Baby Luau. It is different and I have never heard of anyone doing it. So I thought what the heck, I'll give it a try. I guess my problem is figuring out what games I could come up with because the shower will be held at the beach. My Aunt thought I should get a whole Luau pig but concerned with how much that would set me back. I would cry if I bought something like that and no one ate it. I was maybe thinking a fruit tray, veggie tray and a meat tray or just letting the hubby BBQ all the food there. Any helpful hints or ideas would be great.

I am still working on the invitations and the location and time but if anyone is intrested Please PM me your address and email address and I will get all the information out to you soon. It will be in the middle of September. I am trying to make it as close as possible to my due date. I am so excited .

OK so it's been over 12 years since my baby shower but here are some games I remember~

1. Guess how big the Baby belly is and everyone guesses with a piece of string, closest wins
2. everyone wears baby diaper pins on their shirt and if you get caught saying "Baby" you have to give your pin to the person who caught you and the person who catches people saying "Baby" the most wins
3. A "Guess the height and weight of the Baby" chart and whoever wins (after the blessed event) wins a gift bag or something

I love the Luau theme and BBQ is ALWAYS a good choice :-)

You're not supposed to throw you're own babyshower. Your friends and family is supposed to do it for you. Just my 2 cents.
Games
Guess the baby food in the jar
Word Scramble
Put baby stuff on a tray carry it around and then take it away and then people have to remember what was on the tray.
You ALWAYS have to do the srting game. This is where people try to guess how big your belly is.
Then there is change the baby diaper blind folded. (use a doll...lol)
I have a TON more! Let me know if you need more game ideas.

Those are great games, I might have to skip the measuring of the belly game. We would end up buying 2 dozen worth of string(j/k). My husband loves to BBQ so he will be really busy that day. Thank you so much for the links.

Jeanie orignally I wasn't suppose to plan the shower a so-called friend of mines was suppose to be resposible for it all. But she hasn't been a real good friend throught out my pregnancy. I don't want anyone involved in my childs life who can't be supportive before my child is even born. It hurts... but the show must go on. I have a wonderful gift coming soon and refuse to let anyones negativity be the reason why my first and most likely only baby shower didn't happen.

This is a Co-Ed baby shower so I think the changing baby game will be great to see the men do blind folded. It would be even greater if I could find some of those baby suits and put them on the guys and make do a marathon. What do you think? Thank you for the ideas Jeanie.

Default Congratulations!

Hi Denise,

I'm new so I'm not familiar with everyone yet, but I have a great game and a food suggestion.

The game is to put a couple of bags of cotton balls in a big mixing bowl and have another large bowl right next to it. Then, hand a blindfolded person a large kitchen spoon. They're supposed to see how many cotton balls they can get in empty bowl with the spoon. The one with the most transferred wins! It doesn't sound like much, but it's hilarious for the spectators because the cotton weighs nothing and the player can't tell if there's anything in the spoon.

My food suggestion is to look around for Hawaiian restaurants where you can get kalua pork in quantity. Some to look for here in San Diego are Da Kine, L&L and Shaka's. You'll get the pig, but not have to dig an imu (pit oven). Be sure to have rice too. If you want any other suggestions, let me know...I lived in HI for 7 years.

Default Avoid the pig - use a watermelon

Because my husband is a chef, I must say I have seen him make amazing works of art with food. But in keeping with the Luau theme, you could get someone to make a nice tray with a "roast pig" made of of Big watermelon and a small watermelon. I wish I could draw on here.

My sister had a co-ed shower too - VERY MUCH FUN! The guys were so into it! But she refused all games (saved me a ton of time to be sure)

I'm tempted to buy a plane ticket and come out too! I know it'll be such a good time!!

Hope you're feeling great!
