Default ? For Those Who Have Had PS

I am getting ready to have a TT & Breast Lift. For those that have been through this already I have some questions.
How long can I anticipate being off work (as long as there are no complications)?
Will I be qualified for disability insurance for plastic surgery?
Did you notice a big difference right away?
How long before you could return to a regular exercise program?
Did you use any creams or do anything special before/after for scarring?
Do you have sensation in the nipples?

Any and all advise is welcomed. Cindy

Hi Cindy,

I haven't had any PS yet, but you are getting done exactly what I want. May I ask how much you have been quoted for the procedures? Is your insurance paying for any of it? I am anxious to see the responses to your questions, as I have many of the same questions!

Good Luck!

Will I be qualified for disability insurance for plastic surgery? As long as your docotr signs the paperwork stating that you are unable to do your usual and customary job.
Did you notice a big difference right away? Yes, but not good. You will be swollen, gain weight, and can't waer any of your nomal clothes. Even without any complications, it takes 3-6 months for the swelling to go away. Plus, you need room for the drains, which can be left in for 3-4 weeks.
How long before you could return to a regular exercise program? 3 months
Did you use any creams or do anything special before/after for scarring? I tried different creams on diffrent areas to compare...all my scars looked exacrlty the same no matter waht I used.
Do you have sensation in the nipples? Yep, all back to normal fo me. Stil very little sensation along the scars for the TT...which is good, because i started the tattoo process to cover up the scars.

Any and all advise is welcomed. Cindy

I had a TT, lower body lift, boob lift and augmentation at the same time. It was just over a year ago.

Wow, it's good to know you can get paid disability...I was thinking I was going to have to save up a ton of vacation time. Will most Plastic Surgeons sign the paperwork....hmmmmm, I wonder! I am also worried that my work will get mad if I go out on disability for PS. I know that I do not "have" to tell them what I am going out for, but I am very open and don't know if I would be able to say it was for something else...especially if I came back to work with a huge rack!!

It's reconstructive surgery. Period. It's none of their concern. HEck, bypass surgery is still considered an elective procedure, so think of it as a medical thing. Plus, this is California.....it's more acceptable to be "out" with having PS than perhaps in other parts of the nation.

When you word it as "reconstructive surgery" it sounds much better then "boob job". Thanks for putting a new light on it for me!

Default Tt

Hey Cindy,

I had an abdominoplasty (the skin and muscle tightening as well) a yr ago, and one of the most annoying things about it is the "Ken Doll" syndrome. That was the very long lasting puffiness of my groin! (hence, the Ken Doll thing - just picture it) ;)

Actually, the swelling of everything lasted pretty long - about 6 months. Oh sure, it was still very cool, and you could tell my tummy and waist was smaller, but there was still swelling. I also wore the binder for quite awhile - made me feel better.

And the numbness of the area - I still have numb feelings if I touch around the front of my tummy - close to the incision. It's kind of weird, 'cos I feel my touch, but it's just a little tingly. Doc said that so many nerve endings were cut, that it would indeed feel numb, if not always a little bit.

But it's wonderful! And if I ever think that maybe it's not a whole lot different than I was prior to the TT, all I have to do is look at the "before" photos, and I'm amazed that I really looked that way!

Also, a very cool site all about the surgery etc, is
http://www.tuckthattummy.com/

Good Luck Cindy!
