Default Life style changes

I was hearing my Doctor and others say this surgery will help you loose weight but you will need to change your life style.
I always thought this referred to eating habits.

Well I'm 4 months past surgery and have lost many pounds. I went on vacation last week and noticed that I was more active than I have ever been.
I went hiking and white water rafting among other things. 6 months ago I would never have tried the things I did this past week.

I had a misconception that the life style change, they were talking about, was a bad thing; a drudgery that I would hate.
It is becoming clear that as the weight comes off the fun stuff kicks in. If I had known that life style change means having more fun perhaps I would have done this sooner.

Isn't it great? My friend said she noticed that I am just generally more active, even fidgety at times.....which is good. I know it sure feels better not to hoist so much weight around. Have fun with all your new lifestyle changes.

What a great insight. I had never thought of it that way.

Wow, that is a terrific point of view! I know I am still very large at 351 but I am already doing so much more than I was. And I am so looking forward to getting down even in the 200's and being able to do even more.
Thanks so much for the great perspective!

Default Isn't that true

I found out when I went to visit my sister in VA. Hubby was outside and I walked out he looked at me and I said " I'm tired of sitting" I was going to go for a walk down the road but it was a major highway and my nephew suggested that I not do that I may get hit. As it was anyway we went to look at some land that we are thinking of buying. Instead of waiting back at the car with my sister , I joined the men And had a good time also....
I've been walking more, chasing my grandson more, told the hubby the other day " I'm bored !" which is something that I hate when I hear it from my daughter.....Life is good !

Isn't that one heck of a realization! Its amazing all the new things we can do. I was at the beach with my nephew this week and I went boogie boarding with him, he could barely keep up with me and hes 12!

You're right, life takes on a whole new perspective the further along you get in your weight loss.

Just yesterday I bicycled for about an hour in the early afternoon and then kayaked for another hour that evening... something I never would have (or physically could have) done when I was obese. I estimated that I burned about 1100 calories that day - just on those two activites alone.

I'm in agreement with you - I should have had this surgery done a loooong time ago.

Totally agree. I'm only a couple months out and I'm more active than I've been in years. The sitting around and playing computer games and watching tv that I used to do so much of have been replaced by walking and riding bikes. I'm eagerly awaiting a time when I'm not going to be embarassed to jump in to some swim trunks so I can hit the lake.

BTW, Marty I did find that bathing suit and I did go to the beach. I had a blast! The best part is that the suit was only $5 on clearance at Target and it fit like a dream. As I kept searching I kept thinking about how you would not let me give up a vacation and that kept me moving. Thanks!
