Default Vitamin B-12 shots....ouch

Last week had my first B-12 shot in the arm. The doctor gave it to me. Today he had me give my own needle in his office so he could check that I was doing it correctly. He asked that I give in my thigh and make sure I get into the muscle.

Last week, there was no adverse reactions to the needle in the arm...today...ughhh the leg is burning and stinging and its been 4 hours now. Had a hot bath and took a walk to try and get it feeling better.

I hit the muscle, not the vein or artery and there is no bruising. I think next week I will aim for the arm instead.

Anyone else or the docs/nurses here experience this or know why this might be going on?

Sometimes if you massage the area after the injection it disperses the medicine and eases the pain. Inject slowly. The needle isn't what hurts, it is the medicine spreading out your tissue and the pH of medicine. Hope that helps.

Thanks. The bath and long walk seemed to help it and today its much better. Funny thing is the pharmasist said to inject slowly as the substance is thick and the doctor told me I was doing it too slow ?!?....oh well, much better today. Thanks.
