Why can I eat almost a large Wendy's chili?
Is something wrong with me???
I am 8 weeks post op and my first day to try red meat and was so hungry today because I skipped lunch on accident due to a long work day.
I ate almost an entire large Wendy's chili and feel like I have stretched my pouch or my WLS is messed up.
Was anybody else able to eat this amount so early on during surgery?

Sandy I am not for sure what a large chili at Wendy's looks like but if you skipped a meal i could see how you could eat almost the whole thing. Did you drink with your meal? How long did it take you to eat it?

wow!!!
I would say because it s pretty moist and it is one of those kinds of foods you can eat alot of.
Remember you have a tool, not a magic pouch!
some folks can eat alot more than others, you must be one of them.
This can be blessing as well as a disadvantage.
Use your tool early on and you will be fine.
Good food choices are critical for you!

I believe it is 12 ounces where a small is 8 ounces. If you eat slowly, you could get it in. Limit it to 20 minutes and you would probably stop sooner. Some days are big pouch days and some are not. Today was one. The key is the stop eating as soon as you feel full and not take one bite more. Repetitively taking more will stretch your pouch, not just one meal. And even if it stretches a little, returning to the rules allows it to shrink some as well.

I too have days where I have a bigger pouch than others. I NEVER FEEL FULL, so I have to be careful and eyeball or measure out a cup or so. Its the strangest thing. I can eat about a cup (a little more sometimes) of chili at one sitting and finish in 10-15minutes or less. I worried about this too, but know that if I keep to around a cup, I should be fine...you will too!

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
Think of your surgery as a "time-out" and use the honey-moon period to build new eating habits. Ater all, that's how we got fat in the first place. Eating more then we needed.
Don't order a large anything. Order small and eat 1/2 to 3/4 only.
