I love me some oranges. I 'eat' one almost every work day. I actually just chew the juices out and spit the solids out. There isn't any real classy way of doing it, either. My co-workers love when I have an orange . Same thing with grapes...the skins just dont want to go down, so chew and spit. Lovely, eh!

Early out, I ate the insides of about 5 grapes (no skin) and progressed to watermelon and other melons. Now I can have all kinds of fruit, but keep the portions small and always eat with other food. If I eat on its own, I feel a little icky. I have yet to try a banana.

ive tried strawberries, watermelon, and bananas. i have not tried my other favorites which are tangerines, peaches, plums, and kiwi. i agree with eating very little and i also eat some cheese with them. i do it to get protein in more than anything else because fruit is good but no protein value.

I agree that eating protein with it is a great idea. But also, further out, fruit can be a healthy, no fat, low cal way to divert your attentions from other sweets. But at that point it isn't such a struggle with the protein, so it's easier to fit it in even if eaten alone or along with your meal. Oh, I also eat yogurt or nuts sometimes with mine for the protein.

Word of warning about my love of oranges...it was on my list of foods to avoid future kidney stones (as was grapes and apples, peanut butter, chocolate, milk, and ice cream, and a bunch of other stuff I dont eat...kale, blech).

I am almost 7 months out and have done bananas, apples, grapes, cantelope, kiwi and pears. My surgeon told me to stay away from pineapple and watermelon. He said we tend to eat too much watermelon because it is mostly water and breaks down but because of how much people tend to eat, the sugar will catch up to you. I guess if you only ate a few bites it would be ok. He said pineapple has too much concentrated sugar. I don't think I can ever eat enough fruit to dump but I am taking his advice for now.

I had issues with oranges until I was abotu 5 months out... then I can eat them, but do remove all the peeling and such as you can. The first fruit I ate well was apples, peeled. I dump on watermelon and on bananas.
