Default Ha, ha!

Well, you had us all fooled, didn't you? I'm glad you used the Diet Pepsi for cleaning your patio furniture. Whew! I had read this article in the past and as soon as I read the first 2 things, I stopped, because I was addicted to Diet Coke. I haven't had a soda since the night before surgery. I have to tell you that this is one thing that I truly miss. I'm not sure that it's the taste more so the way the carbonation tickles my tongue and throat. Oh well, that's the price you pay for looking good, right?

Thumbs down Kids really need to stand clear too!

Hey all,

My son broke his arm last year while playing wide receiver in football. He turned around to catch the ball and tripped in a pot hole. When he went to catch himself with his right arm, it just snapped in half. Then, in tennis this year, his instructor lobbed the ball at him (over his head) and while running backwards, AGAIN, he tripped. And while trying to catch himself with his left arm, he managed to snap that one in half.

The orthopedic doctor made it VERY CLEAR that sodas DO DEPLETE THE CALCIUM in your bones. But, it can also prevent you gaining calcium as a child.

So, the moral of the story? Make sure you limit your kid's soda intake. They will thank you when they are older.

Default My kids

Since I had to rid the house of Diet Coke before surgery, I made a decision to eliminate ALL soda from the house. My kids whine and complain that they only have juice, milk, and water, but they will thank me later. We, as a family are all drinking and eating healthier. I am happy about that.

Thumbs up Oh yeah

My kids are gripping and complaing all the time about it... well actually Isaiah more than Elijah.... Elijah is more health concious (sp?) anyways.... I let them have it rarely, I mean VERY rarely at special occasions where there is no alternative.. i.e. at a birthday party at a park and thats all they have to offer for drinks.... guess they could suck on ice cubes, or I could start packing my own cooler with drinks... hey theres an idea!

Anywho, when they ask why they cant have it, I tell 'em BECAUSE ITS BAD FOR YOU! It took a nutrition meeting with Kelly for me to see the light on this issue...all this years, a pepsi every morning in lieu of coffee for many, many years.... lucky for us we had the fat/hormones protecting our calcium... but with that going away NOW we have to be extremely careful not to chose the wrong path and pay for it later... just say no to soda!

But Stacie you are so right.... broken bones are way up for children than say 10 years ago... and the soda is to blame.

I know that this will be one the hardest things for me to give up post-op. I rarely drink soda now. But in the past I always had the big gulp cup full of pepsi. Irela's favorite wedding picture? Me in a tux with a Big Gulp full of pepsi. But I have cut down greatly. Now I have maybe one pepsi a week. Even Cream sodas are being tapered off. But to know that once I have surgery I wont be able to have one again.... that is scary. But if Irela can do it I can try.....

So, here's that picture Bill is talking about. This is one of my favorite wedding pictures of him. To me it shows his love for the Pepsi. He has really gotten better at not drinking it and I know he will be successful.
