Default My two-cents (smile)...

When I was pregnant and taking my prenatal pills. My doctor preferred I took my pill right before bed. She said that the body is at rest and absorbtion is much, much slower; therefore your body will absorb more of the nutrients from the actual vitamin.

At my 9 mo appointment, Kelly told me to start taking 100 mg of B1, AKA thiamine daily. She said that it's a new requirement, so I need to find it in Trader Joes. Probably will get the B-100 capsules and take them.

I take my iron and stool softener with a vitamin C (helps produce some acidity in the pouch so Iron can absorb better) first thing in the morning and then eat. Mid morning, I take a chewable Calcium and my anti-depressant. Mid afternoon I take my Centrum Multi-vitamin, B-12, Magnesium, Biotin and Vitamin D. After dinner I take another chewable calcium. Before bed I take my birth control. I have a weekly pill container that I fill up on Saturday nights. I just take it with me to work.

Default RE: Vitamins

Dear Christy H,

We use Ultra Mega from GNC. 1 per day and you get a 6 month supply for about $30.00. My wife has been on them since January 1998 and has never had a B-12 shot or any problems with her vitamin levels!

Good Luck

There's maybe a 10-20% better absorbstion with citrate vs. carbonate.

Iron is constipating...so you need fiber, water, and exercise. Some people need to to tkae a stool softener if their diet isn't supplying what they need to keep regular. Aslo, as your body absorbs more of the iron, your poop becomes more of the normal brown color and less firm.

As to scheduling you vits, taking them at the "wrong" times is better than not at all.

I take a generic adult multi-vit without iron.
A seperate generic iron pill
calcium citrate from Trader Joe's
Juice Plus
fish oil
B-12 from Trader Joe's
Benefiber chewables

All my labs are fine and near the high end of the range.
