Question When did you get to add string cheese?

I'm jumping the gun a bit but I've been on clear liquids all day today for my surery tomorrow and I'm STARVING so I decided to torture myself by looking at the recipies forum and now I want string cheese! At what point post op are you able to try and introduce this? During the stage 2 / pureed stage or not until your on 'food' again?

Default Hmmm.

I can't remember when I was able to start eating string cheese again. I know the first week or so after surgery I was on clear liquids. After that was cream soups (THANK GOD FOR CREAM SOUPS!!). Then I think it was soft/crunchy foods. So maybe around the 3rd stage? You'll do just fine! Just relax and go for a walk or something. You need something to take your mind off eating.

My doc put me on Optifast - a liquid diet starting January 18th - and my surgery is March 7th. Hubby and I just finished building a huge outdoor patio that includes an ice machine - I cannot get enough of the ice!!!!! So if you're in the mood to crunch and swallow something, ice is a clear liquid

String cheese is considered a soft food, so when ever your doc says soft food is okay.

I personally got to eat soft foods a week after surgery and that was when I started string cheese. If it weren't for cheese I would not get all my protein in everyday!

My doctor is sort of a Nazi.....clear liquids for 2 weeks after surgery and then straight to the soft foods. String cheese is a savior. My latest favorite is
2 ounces ricotta with a tablespoon of spaghetti sauce and string cheese on top. Microwave for 45 sec and grate some parmesean onto. Tons of protein and just yummy
