I have ordered many sauces from the bariatriceating.com website and a company uses an all natural herb called "Lo-han" for sweetener in their bbq sauces and ketchups. Do you know anything about it???

Lo-han is actually a chinese fruit. The fruit, Lo Han Guo (Siraitia grosvenorii) has been used as a food, beverage, and traditional medicine. It is from the plant family, Cucurbitaceae. The cucumber, melon, squash, and gourd are also apart of this family. The most unique component of Lo Han Guo are the triterpene glycoside. These non-caloric sweeteners are known as mogrosides.

It too rates very low on the glycemic register, but higher then Stevia. It's used as a sugar substitute in the preparation of foods. You can buy a small bottle of the concentrated liquid. I've never tried it myself so can't vouge for the taste.

Okay, I'm addicted to Splenda! Is the Stevia really that good? I have actually had it in my hand at the health food store and put it back because I was nervous about the taste. Is the taste better than Splenda or just healthier for ya?

To me it tastes a million times better then Splenda. But Suz said it had a bitter after taste to her. Just try it and see. There are other alternatives. Find one that's right for you. But definately try and stay away from the artificial sweetners. That's just my opinion....
