Wink Instead of bread

I know I can't have bread. I don't even think I want bread, but I have a strong desire for bread. What do you guys do instead? I don't even think it is the bread, I think it is the carbs. I saw Dr. Potts yesterday and forgot to ask. Good news is I am 197 down from 240. I want to keep up the loosing process, so I don't want the carb addiciton. I have been eating fruit (mostly Honey Dew), and chicken and that is about all. Thanks for any tips y'all can give me.

Default Carb addiction

Tracy,
I can totally relate to your battle with carbs. It is an addiction and the more we eat the more we crave. I have a few suggestions (my opinion and experience only). For now cut out the fruit! It is full of sugar and only makes you crave more carbs. Stick with protien and veggies for now. Your body will get over the carb cravings that way.

You will eventually be able to add fruit back, but slowly and no more than one piece a day. When I ate more than that my weight loss stopped and my carb cravings got out of control.

Not advocating a diet, but if you can pick up a copy of the South Beach Diet. It is the best book on basic nutrition that I have read. It gives you a great understanding of how our bodies react to certain carbs and how the insilun response affects our eating and weight.

Default Instead of bread

Mary,
Thanks for the info. I had not thought of the fruit being the problem. I will stop the fruit and buy the book.

Thumbs down Tracy, Suzanne & the dreadful carbs........

Hi girlies and all. I would have to agree w/Suzanne on this. I try to tell my sis allthe time. You get WAY more bang for your buck with veggies vs. fruits. The fruit has much more sugar, less vitamins, and less fiber. And, the sugar in fruit, even though it is "natural" a sugar is metabolised like a sugar....period. Stick w/ the greens Tracy, much better for you now, and always. Good luck.

Default Fruits do cause cravings...

Thanks Mary for mentioning about the fruit causing cravings. I hadn't put two and two together till you brought it up. I was starting to enjoy the summer fruits, and found they're a little too hard for me to control. But I also found that I was beginning to crave sweet things around the same time. After I read your post I decided to give it a try, to cut them out to one serving a day. What a difference! The cravings are gone. I can now look at fruit and see it for what it can do to me... why put myelf through it?!

I just love it when the light goes on!
