Question When did you start certain foods?

I have been reading my big folder from doctor and I can now start soups, overcooked vegs., fruits.....but I want to know about other things..like cerals....MILK??.... haven't attempted milk, I am so confused on what I can attempt and stuff. I am so afraid of gettting real sick..but I feel like I'm constantly hungry and it shouldn't be that way...right?? wasn't that the whole point of the surgery...i found myself depressed so much thinking about all the foods I want...I want some bread so bad, a sandwich, just something different than a couple bites of chicken or cheese...I need ideas, I got appointment w/ doc for 1 month checkup next week but I was wondering if anyone could help me now...plus I love cold stuff....is there sugar-free frozen yogurt or icecream someone can suggest....Please any sugggestions would be greatly appreciated..I am so inpatience I just want to get to the post -op time where I can eat sort-of normal again!!

Try refried beans! I loved those and could have those when I started the soft food/pureed stage and that is where you are. Also crackers! I ate crackers with my soups and stuff made me feel like I was actually eating.

I would try to stay away from any kind of frozen yogurt or ice cream at this stage. You can have SF popsicles and fudgesicles. Also, you should be able to have very well toasted bread. Your pouch isn't going to be able to tolerate sandwiches this early out. Just don't try more then one new thing a day. That way if something makes you sick, you can isolate what caused it.

Default I remember...

being on that darned liquid only phase and having to drink that TERRIBLE chicken or beef broth. I almost puked it smelled SOOOOO nasty!! But I can also remember eating my first sugar free popsicle. IT WAS PURE HEAVEN!! The feeling of constantly being hungry isn't because of your tummy hunger, it's coming from your head hunger. Just like an ex-smoker craves cigarettes, a post-op will crave food. Don't over do it. I think at your stage you can try things like extra-crunchy bacon, well toasted bread, etc. It'll get better. Try to keep busy and not think about eating. I know that was when I usually ate...when I was bored. Go out and take a walk. Read a book. Whatever. Good luck and keep up the good work!

Don't try bread...it goes poof in the pouch. Refried beans are good. Cheese is good. Cereal at your stage may also be rough. It blows up in your pouch. You will be able to eat that later. Chicken is a tough one. Some people can tolerate it and others can't. I was able to, but I was further out than a month. The first months are the hardest. Hang in there. Now, I have trouble because I can eat and tolerate more and more foods.
