Smile Question about protein amounts

At obesityhelp.com I continually keep reading posts about how people are upping their protein intake to 100 grams a day. They say this helps get the weight off... a jump start. Now I thought I read somewhere that your body could only digest 50 grams a day and then the rest turns to fat... anyone have any idea about this?

The only thing I have heard is that you can only absorb 30 grams at a time. I have no idea about the rest turning to fat...I don't think it is true.

I remember Kelly saying "no more than 50 grams, any more than that is not a good thing"... but she didn't go into any detail as to why it wasn't a good thing~

Smile ????????

I will see what I can find out and keep you guys posted. Yeah I was under the impression that we needed no less than 30 and no more than 50. Like I said I read some where that your body can only digest 50 grams a day! It can only digest 40 grams a day/10 mg a time of sugar... anymore goes to fat... this is just info that I read in one of my magazines..... if you guys find out anything let me know... my 6 month post op is Friday the 3rd, so I'll be sure to ask then also.

At 100 grams of protein, that's at least 400 calories all by itself. And since most protein have even more calories in fillers, you can easily take in 1500-2000 calories/day! Too much of a good thing is generally bad. Any excessive calories your body doesn't use will turn into fat, whether from carbs or protein.

Cool Driving...

Thanks Kim and Jean,
I promise I'll keep both of my eyes open when I'm going over the mountain the back way, on hiway 67!!!!!

I'm leaving Lakeside at about 10 till 10, so, you guys just, either stay off the road in front of me, or say a prayer!! LOL I'm teasing, I really AM an excellent driver, heck, I'm married to a former race car driver, champ at that, it's just been awhile since I could fit behind the wheel!!! NOW I can!!!

Does anybody know if I have to take my blue binder with me??? I don't want Kelly to yell at me!!!
