Default portion size?

I am just about 8 weeks post-op and feeling great!!! I am confused about portion sizes. Are we supposed to eat 2oz. meals forever? How many ounces should I be eating per meal at this point? I know to stop before I get that "stuffed/pain" feeling but I feel that I can handle a bit more than 2oz. I don't want to ruin my pouch or anything, just curious.

Thanks,
Laura

Hi Laura
This is the plan given to me by my nut:
up to 4 weeks: 2 oz protein for each breakfast, lunch, dinner
5-8 weeks: 1 oz protein + 1oz fruit for breakfast, 1 oz pro + 1oz veg for lunch, 1 oz pro + 1 oz starch for dinner
9-15 weeks: 2oz pro +1 oz starch breakfast, 2 oz pro+1 oz fruit lunch, 2 oz pro+1 oz veg dinner.
4-6 months: 2 pro+2 starch for Breakfast, 2 pro+2 fruit lunch, 2 pro +2 veg dinner
7-9months: 3 pro+ 2 starch breakfast, 3pro+2 fruit lunch, 3 pro+2 veg dinner
9-12 months: 4 pro 2 starch breakfast, 4 pro 2 fruit lunch, 4pro 2 veg dinner
12-18months: 4pro 3 starch breakfast, 4pro 3 fruit lunch, 4 pro 3 veg dinner.
18-beyond: 4 & 4 for each.

I know everyones plan seems to be different so be sure to check with your nut or dr.

This is my plan at almost 3 months

Breakfast:
1 protein shake made with skim milk

Snack:
1 fruit and yogourt or yogourt alone

Lunch:
3 ounces meat (chicken, fish, beef, etc.) with vegetables (i don't measure the veggies but i make sure i eat most of the meat then have a few bites of veggies)

Snack: Yogourt

Dinner:
1 egg omellete with cheese

Most days I cannot eat the whole 3 ounces of the meat.

No, we are definitely not supposed to eat two ounce meals forever! Right now you should probably be eating about 1/2 cup meals, depending on what you're eating. By one year post-op, you should be eating around one cup at a time, maybe a little more.

Just be careful, and pay attention to your pouch. As soon as you feel full, stop. I've been overeating, and now my pouch has stretched more than it should. I'm getting a handle on it now, because I don't want to gain weight. Also, sometimes you'll be able to eat more than others...it just depends on what you're eating, and how hungry you are.

Songbird,

How do you know that your pouch is stretched? This is something I am so afraid of.

I had to get an endoscopy done because they thought I had an ulcer. My surgeon noticed it.

Think if it as not eating everything on your plate. Weigh it out first on your scales and then leave something behind. Let your body take it's time. It's better to be fluffy than stuffy.
